It seems to be just changing the cluster language over to French. The only other item I've noticed changes on the cluster besides 0/1 on the fuel gauge is Tire Learn becomes Pneu Prog. I can't speak French but I can use Google translate and it says pneu = tire.
The translation on the other menu options are close enough I guess. I checked to see if it changes anything on MyLink (like it does when changing units on the cluster where it switches outside temp to Celsius) but it makes no changes there. 
Perhaps 0/1 makes more sense than Empty or Full when not speaking English. Kinda like how GM would use the circles that were full, half empty, or empty on fuel gauges of analog Canadian clusters but the US versions had E/F.
GM has a lot of markets covered with the various configurable items on this cluster.

Now that you mention the whole French thing changing it to 0 and 1 it makes sense. "Empty" and "Full" don't start with 'E' and 'F' in most European languages. They certainly don't in French.

Think of it as fractions. 1/1 is a whole. 0/1 is nothing, empty.
I understand the 1 and 0, what I don't understand is the why. 1 and 0 is digital, meaning yes/no, true/false, full/empty. There is no half-way in digital... Why use a digital system for something with variability?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think the word you are looking for is binary, not digital :thumbup:
I know in the strict definition of binary, there is only either full or empty. Why use 1 and 0? Probably because there is only one digit's worth of space available in the Sonic's LCD cluster where F and E show up, and any French speaking driver would look at 1 and 0 and understand what it means.
