Syncing Address book from Samsung Galaxy

Hey peeps. I was wondering if any of you had this trouble of syncing your addressbook to your car via Bluetooth.

I have had my bluetooth working..manage to pair them up with the car and successfully played songs, but when it comes to syncing address book, it sucked.

Everytime i hit the 'Update' selection, it will 'pretend' as if it is updating, once completed and when you start browsing for the names of the person you wish to call, the address book is just empty.

FYI, i am using Samsung Galaxy S3, Android 4.1.2

Anyone had similar problem with a possible work around on it? Thanks

I have the galaxy s3 android 4.1.2 but my sonic is the original 2012 model before the my link system.

Address book seems to work fine.

I've had the same problem on my Samsung Rugby Smart running ICS, but I figured it was just a problem with the ROM I'm using since my voice recognition isn't working either (for the phone in general). No solutions yet, but I haven't had a chance to play around with it much.

I have a S2, 4.1.2 and after pair up, I have have to wait about 2 minutes for the address book to sync up. If I tried to use the phone, Pandora, BringGo, Tunein before the address book sync happened, then for the duration of the pairing the address book would not show up. Have you tried sync up and not doing anything with the phone for about 2-3 minutes then looking checking it?

thanks for the info. yes, i did..multiple times. my assumption is since i have quite a large address book, syncing might take some time hence leaving it to sync until the whole process ends..the system 'pretends' to sync i,.e. showing the syncing icon etc, and ends normally but when i come to browse the address book alphabetically, all of them are empty.

i cannot come to a conclusion of what went wrong:
- phone firmware, check.
- bluetooth pairing, check.

well, Mylink does not work in Malaysia, so i cant experiment that, too bad. thanks for your input nonetheless.

my voice recog works like normal. since u mentioned ROM, it got me thinking of flushing/rooting my phone..hmm.

I kinda lose hope assuming that Chevy only in favor for American products like iPhone, thats why they aint likin the Korean Samsung.

I currently use Samsung Galaxy S3 with andriod version 4.3, My phone sinks up fine. Have you tried to disconnect completely and reconnect phone as if it were new? It worked fine with both versions of the radio I had..The reg LTZ radio and now the new Mylink Radio I have. I think i unpaired and repaired a couple times before it fully latched onto my phone...also have you tried to update your phone to the newer andriod that is out?

I performed the bluetooth unpairing and re-pair it again as suggested by a fellow forumer. Seems like it yields better results as syncing this time showed some improvement but not perfect. Manage to 'extract' some names from my phone's address book, but some wording end up with gibberish characters and some gave completed names but, with missing phone numbers.

Any advice to get a perfect syncing?

Sorry I'm months behind on this, but I've updated my phone a few times, still running cyanogenmod, and it syncs fine. I can't imagine why a stock S3 is having issues, unless it has to do with the "Google Now" launcher update... But that wouldn't have been the problem to begin with...

I have the Samsung Galaxy S2 and was having the same problem as above.

I was able to figure it out last night. You will have to use GOOGLE NOW.

Connect your phone through Bluetooth.
Once connected press the call indicator on your steering wheel.
Now hold down the call indicator on your steering wheel.
Your phone will ask if you if GOOGLE NOW can sync your address book.
Select YES.
Now the GOOGLE NOW girl will communicate through MyLink.

I am able to say "call chevy sonic" and she will connect.

Thanks for the tips! However, i think your tip works for Sonic user from the Stateside.

For Malaysian Sonic users, I have figure out a work around, and the step goes:

1. Clean/update your address book in your Galaxy S3 especially the contacts on your SIM Card. Since SIM card contacts only hold limited characters that gave you truncated names, I would suggest backing them up all your contacts in Gmail or Samsung link.

2. Next, delete all your contacts in your SIM Card. (Assuming you have backed them up in Google/Samsung cloud accounts). Use this app - https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.needom.simcontacts

3. Unpair your phone, and re-pair it again.

4. Update your address book. Do not disturb your phone in this junction to ensure 'clean' sync.

5. Let the update end and walla! You got your self a good sync.

It works for me.
