Has anyone looked at/driven a Spark? I test drove one the other day and it's a pretty neat car and drives decently for such a tiny car. My other half is thinking of getting one for a "bopping around town" car. It kinda reminded me of a Sonic Jr.

I've worked on a few. I got to drive one around the building. It wasnt bad. Way to small for my liking. My wifes mom has one and loves it.

It looks to me like a very good choice for bopping around.
In my opinion, so is the Sonic and it also does well driving coast to coast.

Everything i've read says the Sonic is a better choice and the cost difference between them is small enough to always make the sonic a purchase

Drive one today... I would never buy one personally but for the intended purpose of the car it's not bad

The spark is a city car.

If you aren't in the situation to need one for that purpose, don't buy one. They are nice, for a city car, from a utilitarian perspective.

I would buy one before a Fiat, certainly..

I drive them from time to time when we service them as rental cars, I like them because I like small, goofy cars, but as mentioned when it comes down to it the couple dollars extra for a Sonic gets you a LOT more car.

Sparks would sell better for 2K less.

I didn't like the Spark at first but it's growing on me. It would do pretty much anything I need a car to do, sans the occasional long trip which we would rather take the Sonic anyway.

If it came down to it, I would rather have one of these new than buy a larger used car for the same money. Sure it's a downgrade, but I wouldn't have to sit in the remnants of someone else's flatulence.

That said, for a little runabout, I would have a tough choice deciding between the Spark and Fiat 500. Both are just like sooo cute...

That's pretty much what she wants the car for. We have my car for trips, but the Spark is great for around town or shorter trips.

Not to mention the remnants of someone else's warranty. A shiny new warranty is a great thing.

I was going to buy one...until I saw the Sonic. Way more aggressive styling, more of a sporty car, not same class. Much better choice.

I found the Spark to be entirely too anemic for me, didn't get enough of a bump up in mpg to sacrifice the extra space inside or the loss of power to weight ratio. However, the electric Spark wasn't yet available... if you really just want it for city driving, the electric might make sense, and it has (on paper at least) a LOT more hp, which might make it drivable.

Kind of cool, but was the roll cage really necessary for a "faster' turtle?

Or, was that not a roll cage I saw inside after they did the mods? 0 - 62MPH in 12 seconds......

I too was going to buy a Spark until I saw the Sonic. My brother has a Spark and I drove it and liked it just fine. Good car for the price. But, when I went to the dealership early this year I had planned on using my GM Card points because of a roundup deal GM had going. The most I could get off a Spark was $500. But I got $4000 in total rebates for the Sonic. Go figure. I got the Sonic cheaper than i could get the Spark for the relative same model. Quite a bit in fact.

The finance guy laughed and said that was a record rebate for a Sonic.

Yeah, they don't seem to be rebating Sparks yet. I remember when I first looked at the Sonic, they had just come out, and the dealer said the best they could do was $500 off sticker.

Driven both an automatic and a manual.... The manual made the car feel adequate for acceleration. The auto just killed the car...

I actually didn't mind the car. If you ONLY drove around town... I would purchase one. On the highway, they tend to be less stable... I have seen a few popping up around my area and the people I know who own them love them to death...
