I think that depends.
Drag racing a manual is stupid. Drag racing is the only place I feel autos belong.
You get ultra fast shifts and consistency every time.

VTEC (which stands for Variable Valve Timing and Lift Electronic Control) is an electronic and mechanical system in some Honda engines that allows the engine to effectively have multiple camshafts. As the engine moves into different rpm ranges, the engine's computer can activate alternate lobes on the camshaft and change the cam's timing. In this way, the engine gets the best features of low-speed and high-speed camshafts in the same engine.
Its like hitting the Nos button. But your car doesn't get the pretty cool blurry lines along the sides of the car like your traveling at warp speed..

I know what Vtec is, I didn't know if VTACKZ was some new catchy Honda name or not.

Modern engines don't simply have a second cam lobe, they have actual variable valve timing. Has Honda caught up yet or are they still using the same lame setup my 2006 J series had?

No, I haven't looked into it. I honestly don't even know if my city has a dyno. I'd most likely have to drive out of town for a good hour over towards the race tracks. I plan on finding a dyno when I add some more things. I'm running E85 Red Pill on stock clutch and it does tend to slip sometimes. The new clutch is here tomorrow so I need to get that installed. Then after that I plan on buying MPfabs intercooler. So after those couple things, I'd be willing to dyno my sonic

i-VTEC has variable valve timing as well as a locked in high lift lobe. The J series still lives and is putting up some serious numbers in Earth Dreams form.
As for an automatic missing the shift point; if you are flooring the throttle, it should be revving to or close to the redline. It certainly would be pulling past the VTEC crossover point in the Prelude. As ChrisJ said, it's perfect for the strip.
Ricers give Honda such a bad name.
Edit: and street racers give all car enthusiasts a bad name. OP, keep your pride tucked.

It's how you're supposed to say Vtec... you scream it with a wild eyed narcotic-fueled level of enthusiasm.
Presumably because boy racers are just wild about retaining fuel economy and driveability at low RPM.

For example, the BRZ automatic vs the BRZ manual is significant. (15.6 for auto 14.6 for manual) Subaru 0-60 Times & Subaru Quarter Mile Times | 2013 Subaru WRX Sti 0-60, BRZ, Tribeca, Outback, Forester and 2012 Subaru Legacy 0 to 60 stats!

However a car that runs in the 15s shouldn't be drag racing in my opinion so the point is moot.

I think the only reason any one has given him grief is because street racing is illegal and dangerous, closed course or not ("closed course" roads are probably closed for a reason!).... I think the majority can not claim they haven't done it, but, gloating/posting about street racing on the forum is not condoned.

What dangerous mods might you be talking about? Tunes? Exhausts? Intakes? Wheels? Suspension? If done right/installed properly none of those are are dangerous much less illegal (minus deleting emissions equipment, but that's only "dangerous" to the environment...). About the only thing that properly making a car faster on the street makes a car dangerous is the fact that people feel they have to prove their econobox can out run another car with its new found power.
