Official: What are your real world MPG Numbers

39.2k miles, DIC reports 31.1mpg, which means consistent with approximated calculations I make while at the pump filling up.

1.8 Auto. This is about 80% stop/go and 20% highway. A/C is almost always on and I don't granny it at lights.

Its not the best but I'm happy. Driving this same way would get me 12mpg on a good day in my old Blazer a

I also find myself averaging 31mpg on the DIC but its really 30, my DIC tends to be 1 mpg optimistic. I'm never in a rush. I know I could be averaging way more but, I cruise around in city a whole lot with my lady. The most I've been able drive on a tank so far has been 320 miles. Always filling up 10.something gallons of gas (when the gas light come up) always with 89 octane chevron plus.

I drive 20 miles highway to work one way 5 days a week, weekend driving is subtle and around town but I show 28.3 average... However I do tend to drive as if it has a turbo from time to time. .

Car only has 700 miles now though. It still increases steadily.

I'm still 'warming up' my Sonic. Just hit 2K miles. My gauge reads 31.1MPG and pretty much stays there, fluctuating .1 or .2 either way. I'd say I do about 75% hwy and 25% city driving.

WHAT a difference this car is from my gas guzzling 2011 Silverado 6c. I have kept a record of my spending on gas, and on a good month I was spending $300+ to drive my truck. For the last 2 months I have spend less than $120 per month for gas in my Sonic!

so far 10,388 miles driven, used 269.9 gallons, for avg. mpg of 38.0. this is an LT with the 1.4L Turbo. If i were to exclude the first 1,000 break in miles the numbers would be a little better. some tanks we get 40mpg. live pretty rural so not a lot of "city" driving.

Now that's how you calculate mileage. Well done.

I get around 33mpg so far. Only 1400 miles or so, though. 75mph on the highway usually.

finding good prices...... best with only .05 discount 2.90 a gal at meijer. .....however milage is way down to 45 to 47 mpg and can't get my 4th day now. i need 550 mile in tank to finish the 7th and 8th legs and i fall about 30 miles short.....just like last year......ok, last year i barely made the 3rd day and i didn't care, this year i'm still trying and have a cushion for the 3rd day. i even get 50miles for the weekend .

Just filled my 1.4 turbo hatch for the first time, did the math and got 36.2 mpg, the indicator read 36.6 mpg. This was 87 octane fuel, weather with temperatures as low as 20 degrees, no AC use, around 70% city, 30% highway.

I have a sonic rs manual and tested a few different scenarios these numbers are all with filling up with 93. Doing my daily city driving to and from work I average somewhere between 29 and 33 depending on how I drive. On the highway going 60 I average 40 to 42, going 65 I get 38ish, and going 70 I get 36-37. I did a 1400 mile round trip from chicago to just west of philly and spent 120ish on gas for the trip even with it raining half the way there

hhhmmmm...

as i expected my mileage is reduced based on temp but..... after fueling at a different location. even the cold temp didn't affect the mileage, so i'm left with the time it takes to warm up as the blame for the reduced milage. i scored a 57 which on my gauge is like 52 or 53 for 20 miles before i got home. Next day it reduced to 50 at the mark of 10 miles out then stabilized until the next cold start where is reduced again. final for the tank was about 44.

Well, first tank is done!

DIC showed 32.3 MPG average as I pulled up to the pump. Actual numbers: 278 miles, 8.88 gal (pretty sure it was using 87 octane from the dealership), for a hand-calculated figure of 31.3. I'm happy with that.

I filled up this time with Premium, just to see what it would do (after reading the threads about regular vs. premium). And heck, 8.88 gallons of premium is cheaper than what I was putting in my old car.

I had some decent (but not flawless) luck with the lights on my way home from the gas station, which is about 4 miles. I had reset the DIC while I was sitting at the pump. Here's what it read when I pulled into my driveway..



I know, numbers I'll probably never see again, but it was fun trying to achieve them.

2013 Sedan, 1.4, automatic.... Trifecta tune but otherwise stock.

As of last week and 20k miles we are seeing a lifetime average of about 32.4mpg. This is mostly city and some stop/go interstate driving on my wife's commute to work.

On a plus note we took this car on its first real road trip. Went from Okracoke, NC to a few miles outside of Columbia, SC on a single fill up. 462 miles into 10.85 gallons of gas for a pleasing 42.5mpg. The wife and I plus two kids and a loaded trunk. Tires were slightly over inflated and ran the performance tune the whole trip.

I think the trick on that leg was the heavy holiday traffic keeping speeds for the whole trip between 45 and 65 mph and a lot of truck drafting.

25.1? I wouldn't complain about that. I average that in-city (which is most of my driving) most of the time. Now that the temperature has dropped into the teens and 20s, my MPG is down around 21-22.

Again, all city, short-duration trips, stop signs/lights every few blocks, never get above 40 mph.

Anyway, I wouldn't necessarily be complaining about 25.1...

I was averaging 33mpg with the stock intake in my 1.8 auto. Since I changed the piping right after the maf sensor to the TB using 2.5in aluminum piping I'm averaging 27.3mpg. The car does respond a lot better than before though but I'm getting 550km a tank compared to 600km+.

spent some time this last week in a Cruze with an auto trans. shift points are different than I can do in my manual even with manual shifts. Minimum shifts are above 1800 rpm from 4th on, even on flat road..... 2100 in 6th. with these shift points I can't see how they even got 38 mpg with EPA??
