Help Engine Oil Pressure Light just came on!

On way home tonight fueled up and pulled out and engine oil pressure light came on and doesn't go off now unless engine is pushing over 2k. First time I have seen this. Its been really cold here in Vermont. This in a 2013 LTZ 1.8 auto

This is a known issue with the 1.8. It's the oil pressure sensor. Take it to the dealer and it should be fixed.

Ok thanks. Do you know if this covered under major guard or by recall?

It should be covered under warranty as a faulty sensor. Some say there is a recall and some don't. Not sure.

I had the light come on again today and I even spoke to a chevy ambassador to tell them about my concern and how come only a certain 2012 have this recall and I am not one of them but I am having the same symptoms they have described. She said to me that some Sonics had the pressure switch that came from a different area and those were the ones having problem and from checking my VIN that my car was not part of it.

I just don't understand that when there is an issue of the same symptoms but yet you will only warranty the only the certain vehicles. Also some ppl that got their recall letter, were not experiencing what I am having but yet they got theirs replaced.

From what I was told, sensors are not covered under warranty unless you still have not exceeded the bumper to bumper warranty which is 60,000km/36,000miles.

Take it back and say you don't care if your vehicle supposedly isn't included in the recall. Your light is on, so something IS wrong with your car. They should replace it, recall or not.

No recall on my vehicle and no Information yet...at shop now.

And the good news it was the switch and better it is covered under major guard. The bad news its not in stock...they wanted to do it tomorrow but I work, so Saturday...they said it wouldn't take long. Just gotta put up with that annoying dinging and no remote starter until then which could be killer was -20 this morning when I went home!
