Remove antenna before car wash

I think if the car wash uses brushes, it might be a good idea-but not a requirement. If it is touchless car wash, then NO.
I have only taken my Sonic thru an automatic car wash 1 time, it did use brushes, I did not remove the antenna (didnt even think of it really).
My Sonic gets babyed. It gets washed in the driveway with a hose, brush, soap, and drying shammie. When weather permits. Other times I spray her down at the car wash.

Before I switched to the shark fin antanna I always went thru the car wash once a week with it on and nothing ever happen with it. I live in a community in my city Called City in the Hills and they have there own laws and we can't wash our cars on our property where it's seen by the public so I don't can't wash my car at home so when it's summer I went once a week and it was fine.

If you care about your cars paint, then use only touchless car washes if you don't have time to wash it on your drive way. Those car washes that touch your car with the brushes and have those hanging foam curtains all pick up debris and contaminants and get stuck on them from other vehicles, especially those guys that drive their work pick up trucks from construction sites. It will scratch your paint and leave swirl marks and especially when you look at your tail lights that have red will notice considerably all the scratches.

I'm not allowed to wash my car at home. And my car wash they clean the spin things every 5 washes.. This weird thing goes thru the car was every 5 cycles power washing every brush. And plus my paint is crap anway. My hood, front 2 doors, back driver door back bumper and trunk lid need to be all repainted anyway

I just took my antennae off and left it off instead of a sharkfin. Still get all my stations just fine and I keep it on the trunk incase I travel and can't get reception.

Like Danny, I can't really wash my car myself (don't have a driveway; I can do waterless washes, but not in this insanely cold weather we have in Boston now). I was also debating a touchless wash, but wasn't sure if it would get all the salt out (the amounts of salt they use on the roads here are crazy). I guess I can try it next time and see how well it does.

Oh I know what you mean about crazy salted roads, I'm up here in Canada. Lol I haven't washed my car in about a week and a half, I usually wait till temps go down around freezing point. I only use the touch less car washes and they work just as well or even better, plus they have this machine that sprays the under body.

Use the touchless if possible because the "Scratch and Blow" washes will eventually ruin your paint! :banana:
I try to wash (warsh in TX) every week and the place I go takes it off, would love to hand wash, live in apt's
Its been years ago but when I was married we visited my inlaws in PA in their trail blazer we went through a touchless one then to grove city, temps around 30 it was 25 when we got there couldn't open the doors frozen shut, but could open the back we all went out that way, i bet it looked funny

Normally if a wash door freezes you can kick it a few times to shake it lose. Then just push the emergency door open button. I know it can be scary to get stuck in a wash bay.

Only hand wash here... The only time I use a car wash is when there has been salt on the roads and I want to wash the undercarriage with high pressure. Even then, never use automatic washes, just the kind with the wand.
Never heard of wash bays with doors at car washes... guess we don't need 'em down here. I saw those in Kansas City and wondered what the doors were for.
