What made you choose Sonic?

I was pretty much sold on the scion xb2. Almost had one built, and the best part was they would have let me buy all the TRD upgrades from TRDsparks.com (included in financing, which are up to half price) and do the installs myself while still warrantying them upon shop approval. But my heart was back in the small car market, and I was sold on my 1.4t before even driving it. Plus the Veloster Turbo wasnt available, otherwise it would have been a tough choice between it and the Sonic. But I am completely happy with the Sonic and would do it the same if I had to do it again.

Compared the Sonic to:
Mazda2
Ford Fiesta
Hyundai Accent
Nissan Versa

If the Ford Fiesta had more interior room, it would have easily ranked first. Interior quality was head-and-shoulders above the rest, and sync is really neat. Unfortunately, I kept bumping elbows with my girlfriend during the test drive, which didn't bode well for potential road trips.

Otherwise, the Mazda2 felt anemic on the highway, the Accent was boring all-around, and the Versa just didn't have the stuff I wanted.

I was set to buy a Nissan cube, but they ran out of 2011s before they started supplying 2012s, so I looked elsewhere. I looked at and drove basically all the subcompacts and even considered leasing a loaded Buick Regal Turbo, but it came down to two cars, the Fiesta and Sonic. Sonic won!

Plus the Veloster Turbo wasnt available, otherwise it would have been a tough choice between it and the Sonic. But I am completely happy with the Sonic and would do it the same if I had to do it again.

For me it would all depend on the price of the veloster turbo once it was released, it would be faster but I think a tuned sonic 1.4 would still be way cheaper then it.

I also considered a Honda fit, damn vtec side of me then i looked at one and thought "wtf is this thing?" followed by going to a chevy dealer and buying a sonic

Focus, Mazda 3 skyactiv, Elantra. I was mainly shopping in the C segment when I stumbled upon the Sonic and took a test drive. I was sold immediately.

I still like the head room, price, and cargo space of the Versa but the lifeless chassis and so-so fuel economy were a big turn off.

I looked at used cars before and I considered getting a Colbat, mk5 VW Rabbit, Honda Fit and Mini Coopers. I picked the Sonic cause it was the best deal and the best looking

Looked at the Fiesta, Cruze, Mazda 2 & 3. I have bought mainly Chrysler Products in the past, but I am currently unimpressed with thier current line of cars. The only GM Product I have owned was an 86 Trans AM and swore I would never own another GM. However the more I researched the Sonic I realized it had everthing I was looking for. I liked the Fiesta but the interior seemed small, I didn't like the looks of the Mazda 2 and the 3 was bigger than what I wanted. Went to a local Chevy Dealer and drove a 1.8 and a Cruze 1.4. Cruze was nice, but alittle bigger then I wanted. After weeks of trying to find a 1.4 Sonic to drive I gave up and Ordered an LTZ. Have had the car for a month and am very impressed so far.

I think a wrx would have been awesome but didntget the mileage i am looking for

Cruze 2lt 1.4t rs never drove it because i would have bought it
Jetta sportwagon tdi powerful but grandmawagon and really not very fun too expensive

Decided on b segment cars and

Honda - well i hate driving my moms civic and it has been in the shop more than Anything except her ford escort
fiest- felt like setting in an easter egg and about as sturdy as one
hyundia - looked ok but was boring
nissan versa - ugly and godawful
nissan cube- no
Dodge dart - couldnt wait

Sonic - everything i wanted- they could have done better with the radio - i test drove the 1.8 5m and it was fun but i opted for the 1.4t 1LTZ with a sunroof and might still add the black wheels. Good mileage and i think it will be a blast to drive

GM deffinetly has problems stocking manuals on the lot,once i really found out the actual weight of the Cruze i was ready for the LT2 6 speed...but the problem was there wasnt 1 on the westcoast...so i had to order and i just didnt feel comfy odering a car i couldnt drive the cruze LT is beautiful very good handling car.But once i saw the Sonic LTZ in the flesh i went right back to my hatchback roots the price its a stoned cold bargain for what you get,so the other cars that i were waiting on became easier to let go of FRS/BRZ,Veloster Turbo,500 Abarth,Focus ST....the Fiesta ST and the Swift would have made nail biting hard.

What made you choose Sonic?

Well deep down im small hatch kinda guy but im also a turbo guy...the Fiesta ST,Suzuki Swift,and 500 Abarth would have made it a dead heat,my wife didnt think the Abarth was safe enough so that kind of got ruled out.Suzuki's N.American problems made me think the Swift wasnt coming and i felt it needed a turbo.Now the Fiesta ST would be a monster option but Fords warranty problems wasnt looking good.And again none of these cars are out yet,the Cruze,Fit,Mazda 2 and GTI were the other 1's i seriously considered....price was not my leading factor....but it helped that the Sonics price was right and a big plus that it put jobs back in the USA...

Was also looking into an off-lease Audi A4. You could get them for 21K with about 30K miles and a 100K warranty. It just came down to the fact thta I drive way too many miles for a near luxury car with only middlin good gas mileage. While I love the looks of the Audi, even more than the just-introduced-this-year new model, practicality reared its ugly head. No regrets, tho, as I love my Sonic.

I do agree with you on the cruze and the manual tranny. And the cruze is beuatiful but i got everything i wanted in the sonic for about 4 grand cheaper. Except i really wish they offered the upgraded pionner radio in the sonic. I also dont think they thought that many people would order the manual. But im glad everyone is buying the stick. It should be so much more fun than my s-10 cant wait.

Yep, my Sonic LTZ was about $4k cheaper than a Cruze ECO and a big selling point for me was the comfortable leatherette interior. I have a 5 year old and its reeeally nice to be able to just wipe the interior down from the occasional shoe print or juice spill. AFAIK, you can't get leatherette with the Cruze ECO. (or any other B and C segment car other than a VW that I would never buy in a million years)

Pretty much after i saw it in the flesh after about 3 weeks of hard researching on the Sonic that was a wrap.I just checked out the Fiesta forums and their all waiting on the ST....im just glad GM gave us a real motor right out the gates....

Im glad they are marketing the manual tranny more than the auto on the Sonic i know they have the new auto for the 1.4t lets hope they keep stocking the manuals on the lot more than the auto.The Pioneer would have been nice....i find myself not listing to the stereo much its clean and clear but it needed a sub with more volume to.

Same thing here i had a decent reliable car but then i just had to go to the chicago car show and see the sonic there and that was the day i fell in love with the car that is lol
