Have you pulled your spark plugs for a look? The coil pack is a single unit. To save yourself a trip to the dealership, I would first pull the coil pack off (it's easy to do), and pull your plugs (paying attention to #2). If the plugs look ok, then the coil pack "driver" is dead on #2 cyl. This is assuming you still have the bad misfire after the reflash. Running on 3 cyl is no bueno for the reason stated above. Have the dealership tow it. That should be covered under your powertrain warranty.

Okay let me try to decode this.. Are you saying that the drivers reside in a different place than the tune would lie? He made it sound like drivers are a common issue, but to me it would seem that if it were a software issue it wouldn't be as intermittent, or all of a sudden in the last 20 minutes of an hour drive.
Yeah lucky for me I had to start the doomed road trip in a nice slushy blowing snow situation.. I'm a little embarrassed to drop her off so dirty!

The "drivers" are hardware that supply the signal to the coil when it is time to fire. They get told to activate the coil by the software / calibration. "Drivers" in an ECU are not like the "drivers" in a personal computer.
Lol. Okay that makes more sense. I asked if the drivers were software and he said yes, but he must have just "softened" it when he answered.
After our talk when I dropped it off he was a little more relaxed in the way he explained things.

When he was explaining what a coil pack was (hehe) he said "there's like a little spring in there" which was green with corrosion like it had gotten moisture in it. I thought he included the spark plug in that same sentence but now I'm wondering if I just made up that I heard it or what lol.
I'm going to ask if I can take some pics of what was going on, just for reference.

I'm bummed. Not so much as a phone call today. He said he'd put it on this morning and give me a call when I could come get it. At least call me if you didn't get the part, ran out of time, forgot, got too drunk for work last night.. whatever. Now I'm without her til at least Monday!

It seems that "service" these days is barely a ghost of what it once was.
I deal with this everywhere I go. Almost every purchase I make and almost anyone I deal with professionally.
It saddens me. I bend over backwards at work to provide a high level of service to my boss, my co-workers and clients. If I tell someone I'm gonna do something, be somewhere, or call back. I farqing dooooo eeeet. I wouldn't dream of neglecting my commitment. /rant

I do the same thing in my job as well. You're right, though til now I've been pretty impressed with this tiny dealership. Could have been a miscommunication with the younger tech that may have done the work, where I have been communicating with the service manager himself.
I satiated myself some with a little passive aggressive revenge. It's a beautiful day and as such Kyrie and I would have taken a righteous joyride.. So that's what I did. Added a few more miles to the loaner lol.
