Reading through all these somewhat negative posts, I just feel like I need to say I am a perfectly happy sonic owner. I have had a few very minor problems, but all in all it has been a good car. Do we feel like we should receive BMW/Lexus/MB quality in a pretty darn nice econobox?
Anybody happy with their sonic?

Love my Sonic. I initially bought my Sonic as a short term vehicle to get me by until I could get back into a full size truck or Camaro, but it has been 2 years and 45000 miles and I couldn't be happier. I may add more vehicles to my collection, but I have no intention on getting rid of this car in the next 8 years.
I've had a few problems with my sonic, though. Valve cover issues and now possible oil leak that needs to be checked out. I had a second gear clunk for the first few months too. Besides that, the car has been solid. Car drives very good. Smooth on the highway and can keep up with traffic. Never felt like I did not have enough power to pass someone when I needed too. The MPG is ridiculous.

I still love my sonic. 15 months and 21k miles later. Yes I've had a few issues, its to be expected since its only the second year for this "econobox".
I'm sure the reason for negative posts are people venting. I know I'm guilty of it. Of course I was a lot more pissed with the dealerships service department than the car. A lot of the venting I've seen has also been because of incompetent dealership employees.

Yep i've been happy with mine. Drive it like I stole it every day, haven't had a problem yet.

Overall I like my sonic other than a few problems which I knew I would run into since it is a first year production vehicle made in Oct 2011. Only thing I wish they would of done is make the stabilizer bars metal or some other kind of material other than plastic, darn things have gone 4 times on one side and 3 times on the other.

I love my Sonic, best car I've ever owned, and a perpetual delight to drive.
That said, it has had its problems, and I don't see any reason not to be vocal about them. Liking something doesn't mean being oblivious to its flaws, or staying quiet about them.
I have had two bad transmissions, and when one of our members did a teardown on one, he discovered the cause; they used 10 cent plastic tips instead of springing for the 50 cent brass ones. Unbelievable. Their current approach to the problem is still to replace the entire unit rather than open up the box and replace the tips? Crazy time!
I wasn't interested in waiting for Chevy to come out with a 180-220 hp version so I just modified mine to give me that. Probably cost me less than the difference between LT and SS would be, too
Well the 180 part sure did, I'm currently over 200 and waiting for someone to figure out new valve springs before I can hit 220, but there's been a good deal more money and time getting there.

I haven't had any major problems. But I did have the Mylink system act up on me apparently it was a loose wire. But over all I love it.

A little over 2 years and 44K miles and I still enjoy my car. It has had its minor issues like every car does. I think a lot of those that are upset are either unhappy that they had to buy a car below the market level they wanted to or they are expecting high end quality in a low end car.

I absolutely love my sonic. its the 1.4 manual, and after the trifecta tune, it feels more like a sports car than an econobox. I bought mine because I needed an inexpensive vehicle that I wouldn't have to work on too often, but I also wanted something fun for the everyday commute. it had to have enough leg room for me and still have passengers in the rear seats comfortably. the sonic checked all my boxes perfectly.
