Plastidip vs. 3M cover. Thoughts, concerns?

So the wife and I are still waiting for our factory order to come in. We are also waiting for a quote from our dealer for 3M covering. We can imagine this will be around $1000 or more as we want to cover the entire hood, a-pillars, 3" strip just above the windshield, mirrors, bumper, and a small strip on the rear bumper just under the hatch.

We are tossing around the idea of using clear plastidip in aerosol cans. Now before you mention it, we live in Canada and do not have access to the plastidip glossifier coat or any item from dipyourcar.com. We would be using plain clear plastidip that comes in cans. If you refer to my first intro post you will see pics of my Tacoma that has the hood scoop done in black plastidip to minimize glare when the sun bounces off it. It's been through a power wash many times. So I know this stuff is durable. I'm just wondering if it would look good as it dries to a non glossy plastic. Has anybody done this before? Any thoughts?

$1000 buys a lot of plastidip over the life of the car. Once the old stuff wears out I can peel it off and re-apply for a fraction of the cost. @$25 a can I can spend $100 and cover everything I want to cover with at least 3 coats plus some.

I found this one day but did not use it or have any reviews on it. It's 3m and sort of like plasti did.

I have never heard of that. I wonder how good it really works.

I haven't used it but read some reviews. The biggest downfall it seems to get is extreme patience and practice at getting a perfect coating. Otherwise you get visible imperfections showing up in the coating. Functionality seems to be good.

Well here's a quick update for ya guys. Turns out there is a website called dipcanada. They sell gallon kits including the glossifier. I think I'll have to go with that. It's cheap too. A 4 gallon kit goes for under $500. Aerosol cans are only $15.99

I live in Toronto, have you heard of performance improvements? They carry all colours of plastidip and can get the glossifier. Just look them up online and you can order from their too. Too bad you didn't post this last week, they had their 50 year aniversary with huge discounts on everything.

Ahh too bad! Oh well I'll buy it regardless. I don't have time to wait for sales. The car is arriving mid may according to the dealer. Gotta have it by then. Thanks for sharing that tho, I'll have to check them out.
