It is the 5 by 105 that limits you.

I would be inclined to contact the wheel maker before ordering from anyone. When I ordered the '12 Sonic LT I contacted TSW about this fitment on any of their wheels and though I can not remember word for word their response, it was basically not positive about the near future.

Yep. There are a few people on here including myself that have used them.

The main issue with them is that you have to pay closer attention to wheel offset since too low of an offset will make the wheels stick out past the fenders after adapters.

appreciate the info i'll need it cause i'll be doing adaptors and then finding the lightest 15x7-8.5 meaty ass tires... and flush offset... no hellaflush stuff here... just with the fenders... I'm going for a track look.

For sure. In the link provided is a link to a calculator that will help estimate how certain wheel and tire set ups will fit.

i know the adaptors add about 1" so i'd have to figure out the offset i wanted and subtract an inch from that to figure out what i would need offset wise...

You can actually get different size adapters.
Smallest I've seen thus far is 15mm.

For anything less than 1" (~25mm), you will want to look at the back mounting pads of the wheels and see if they have the pockets for the stock studs (since they will protrude past thinner adapters). (Unless of course, you don't mind cutting the studs.)

So that gives you a bit more to stare at for your wheel search.

cutting studs suck. you'll have to replace them eventually and then...its more cost on parts and time taken to do it if you can do it yourself. if not thats more labor. what not get wheels that are correct for the car in the first place? =)

I am under the impression the only wheel TSW makes that will fit the Sonic is the Nurburgring (sp?) which has the advantage of being rotary forged.

They take a 5*100 and redill them, place stud and it's 5x105mm I've seen that done here..Thaifigther I think...

So a redrill with a plug or a stud in it...

what do you think?

I'm going with the 1" adapters probably and 5x114 is pretty popular size shouldn't have a problem finding what I'm looking for offset will be the issue. But I'm a ways away from that. Probably first of next year.

I would redrill but issue is selling them later. So cost of redrill vs cost of adaptors unless the redrill is fairly inexpensive.

I forgot to ask them how much they charge to redrill... sure it's not free. Thaifighters excellent post (sticky) explains how they do it. It will limit when I sell them, but I don't plan to sell for quite awhile....if ever.

Springs, rear shocks, wheels/tires and finally exhaust.

Tint fogs yellow, putting on new hella horns, hood deflector...

I can see that this car will be just like with the Cavaliers. I already have 4 sets of wheels for it.

Stock 15 with tires that just wont give up. Steel 15s with winter tires, LTZ for summer use, and Eco for autocross. If I get the correct size adapter I could probably get away with using some of the Cavalier wheels as well. It would open up some options for playing around with economy items. 16# stock 16" wheel with the correct size tire might not be too bad. Its a shame the 13# Calais wheels wont clear the brakes...

I do not recall seeing rs wheel weight but the rs wheel is very close to the ltz wheel except for color and each ltz wheel is just short of 22lbs. (21.92)

Hey all, looking at going to a 18" wheel I've read and reread almost the whole thread.
Is it safe to say I can run a 18"x8" wheel with a 40 offset n use 225/40r18 and not have any issues now or when I drop it using the eibach kit?
Also could I go 235/40 if I wanted?
