Throttle Body upgrades?

Just wondering if anyone knows anyone who currently makes a larger throttle body for the 1.4 turbo sonics or anyone that might be releasing one soon? took mine off the other day and couldn't stop laughing at how small it is, definitely a part that could be upgraded to improve air-flow to squeeze a little more power out

i have an LS4 throttle body for my cobalt ss, and after that goes on there, im thinking of trying the cobalts stock throttle body out, and if it works, there's a potential upgrade that could help a lot of people out. Us with a bigger throttle body, cobalt community with getting their stock throttle bodies sold lol

lmao xD and either way, it's a mod that will require a tune to compensate for the larger volume of air flowing into the engine, so the cpu accepting it part is already something thats gonna have to be addressed with HP tuners or the like.

I SHOULD (key word should) have an answer to this by october 5th. im hoping my tuner shows up at the tail of the dragon meet on the weejend of october 3rd, and if he does, that's when the testing will begin. because thats when i will have a stock cobalt ss throttle body to play with.

I'm gonna go ahead and take it off of the balt probably this weekend just to see if it will even bolt up to the sonics TB location, and if it does, test the movement of the TB plate to figure out how much of the intake manifold will have to be ported to allow full opening of the throttle body.

Hopefully everything goes smooth as a hot knife through butter, but im expecting a pain in the dikk to result from this haha

The intake manifold as long as you grind down the tumblers will probably be fine. I did notice there is a slight variation between the balt SS 2.0 turbo TB gasket and the sonic 1.4t TB gasket. It may or may not be negligible since the only difference I saw was that there is a tab on one but no tab on the other. The plugin looks to be identical but is in a different spot. That might not cause any issues depending on how you mount it up though.

Thats a great idea. I know I had huge twin throttle bodys on my lt1 and they helped a bunch, I'm sure with the turbo the larger tb will help alot.

not sure if it's any different, haven't checked, but the throttle body im gonna be testing with is the one from the supercharged cobalt ss's

The only issue I can see with this is that the plugin may not fit, but everything else looks nearly identical from the 05 sc balts and the sonic's TB. I think i'm going to need to hit the junk yard to pick one up for testing as well or take the hit and order one off rock auto for $230.

Guys I did the leg work for the stock throttle body via max bore.com. I purchased one sent it to him. And he said he can't do anything because they welded the cover of the sensor on and he would need that off to push the pin out of the butterfly to modify it. He also said he wasn't sure that the sensor would be okay if removed and he does this for a living. So it's going to take swapping a throttle body from a different vehicle to match up. Unless I attempt to destroy this extra one I have to find out if it can be done with the sensor off.

thats what i was thinking actually lol still wouldn't be difficult as long as it can bolt right on

this is a really good idea- and the availability of Balt parts makes it more feasible.

Also another thing to note is that Vince from trifecta said he wouldn't expect much of a difference from a bored and polished throttle body because of forced induction.

I may still of course try it just have to see if this pans out may be easier tho.
