Was cleaning and came across this gem I made back when I was still machining metal.

I made a sterling engine.

It's a cast iron cylinder body.

We all know cast iron is porous, well to keep the bore from rusting, I soaked it in oil for a few days, slapped the piston in it and ran it with a drill on high for a couple min.

The result was a glazed cylinder wall. It's been like 4 years since I made it and it still has not rusted.

Aahhhh, good times.

My 3.5 day weekend is coming to an end. It was a very active weekend, though. Rode every day of it, hiked, swam and just bummed around in the woods and by the lake.
