Tip. Bend it flatter than your car first, so that you can bend it TO the car, and you don't have to try and bend it both to and away from the car at the same time.
Also, 3M tape is serious about its minimum temperature. I attached mine and both edges came up... Exactly where I was sticking them as the temp dropped below minimum.

I am going to be doing this project once it warms up more too. Here are the "Christmas tree" retainers I bought to use. You can grab these at most any Napa, Autozone, Advance Auto, etc.
Edit: they look like they will require a 1/4" hole for use. Hope this helps!

I haven't installed mine yet, but here is what I've got planned on the install process:
1) Locate and drill holes for fasteners on lip only first
2) Use heat gun to shape lip to fit bumper properly
3) Use silver sharpie to stencil hole locations from lip onto bumper
4) Remove lip, drill holes into bumper
5) Refit lip onto bumper, install Christmas trees
I think that would be the easiest step-by-step for this. And I'm not sure about how to start fitting the lip either, it may work better by fitting one side and heating the part from one side to the other. If the overall perimeter of the part closely matches the Sonic bumper, it should line up after reshaping.

I'm going to say probably start with the lower heat setting first and try that. If that doesn't work then bump up to the high setting. Don't do the high setting first, could potentially melt or warp the piece badly. Do the low setting first to be safe. This will be heating the entire piece I believe, not just the edges. The entire piece will be getting reshaped to contour the bumper I believe.

That would definitely look good, adding some two-tone into the mix with the lip. Post some pictures when you get around to it

i'm just planning in my head but I don't have a heat gun, will need to borrow.
What about the corner, where it rolls around the fender. It's designed to come in contact with something, but our fenders are just thin metal, with no inner lip.
I'll get tape and some plug things..., but id the biggest bend/heat gun spot on both corners?

just buy a heat gun on ebay they are pretty cheap i think i paid 20-25 bucks for mine.
