Black pillar removed

Interesting idea. After looking at my blue hatch, I've decided that the black pillar works well enough to keep the vinyl. The rear door handles especially keep me thinking this way. It's always nice to have options though!

Well again this is all personal taste. I absolutely really like the tape removed on the black Sonics. You guys rock. I do like the black roof on the OPs car. I personally like some color on my cars though. (Remember Im a bit older and still kinda old school). Back then alot of cars were two-toned paint and chrome wheels. I still kinda like that.
---I had a Chevy (GEO) Metro with the tape on the pillars just like the Sonics have. My Metro was Victory Red and I removed the tape way back then. I didnt really like it much afterwards. I think I will leave the tape on my Silver Sonic. But seriously if my Sonic was black---bye bye tape.

I have also painted my bowtie on my old S-10. I never thought of using vinyl though (as another post suggests). I might do that, just dont know what color (for a silver car).

I agree and personally I think any color but black removing the tape will make the car look cheap and more of just an economy car

IDK Smit, I've been thinking about doing this on my Blue sedan as well. IMO it would look good on any sedan but only the dark hatches.

Agreed, I have not read the entire thread yet but those were my very impressions. Unless I see a Velvet Blue Sedan picture in this thread (that looks bad).
I'm planning on removing thr matte vinal trim on mi 2015 LT this weekend.

I took my black stickers off my red sonic today I decided I like it with them off didn't care for the sticker look anyways now my sonic doesn't look like everyone else took about 45 mins had them off .i like the way it looks sure not everyone will like it but when I saw that white one with them off it grew on me so I went ahead and took mine off..

FTFY. Looks like you did a clean job, I suppose if you ever wanted it back on you could use plastidip, that might be easier than ordering new black appliques.

Have you tried something like Meguires Back to Black? It doesn't make it glossy, but it definitely makes the black deeper and nicer looking. One of the first things I did when we got my wife's '13 was hit up the rear door handle & surround, and the side mirrors & trim with it. Much improved.

This looks great. I have a black hatch. I'm debating on doing this and taking the back door handles off and having them painted body color. I wonder how that would look?
