TRIFECTA Updated 1.8L Calibration Coming Soon

Meet the newest addition to the TRIFECTA fleet! This is a 2015 Chevrolet Sonic LT with the 1.8L engine. We've heard the 1.8L owners feel a bit left out, with most of the attention going to the 1.4L turbo Sonic, so we decided to make an investment for the benefit of the 1.8L community.

This particular vehicle has an automatic transmission. We already have our DSVM (a.k.a. select-a-tune) feature implemented and our drivability engineers are working their magic on it.

We also feel there is more power gain potential in this engine than in previous model years due to an ECM hardware and software change. We will be putting it on the dyno next week, so stayed tuned!

Within the next few weeks, look forward to a new TRIFECTA 1.8L Sonic and Cruze calibration release!

UPDATE:

TRIFECTA: Chevrolet Sonic 1.8L automatic - After an exhaustive two days on the dyno, armed with our MY15 ECM operating system enhancements, we found a whopping 27WHP at 6750 RPM!

TRIFECTA: Sonic 1.8L +28WHP official dyno video showcasing our new 2015 1.8L calibration (tune). Dramatic reduction in 0-60MPH times, improved throttle response, and increased fuel economy. Includes DSVM (previously known as select-a-tune).
Official product release is coming soon, but this calibration will be offered at an introductory price of $198 plus shipping, which includes a flash loader device. Current TRIFECTA customers will be eligible for upgrades when they become available.

Awesome, I personally would like a bit more torque with the ac on and in city traffic, mostly below 3000 rpm.

I believe most of us that bought the 1.8 auto combination were older (over 30) but still wanted something fun yet dead nuts reliable. The torque should come on much sooner and that would possibly help gas mileage as well since your foot wouldn't be in it as hard in day to day driving but the fun factor could still be there when you do want to play.

Hopefully that made sense.

Will there be any benefits to those of us with a pre-2015 model? I am interested and have a 2014. I have seen the simple tune available but I am looking to possibly add a SLP exhaust and then your tune. Thanks!

Yes, most of what we change will be applied to an update for the entire platform

Also, I looked on your site for the 2012+ 1.8 tune and dont see any results and /or what is changed
for the 1.8 like you see for the 1.4T.
When you can, can you post the changes and the results we could expect ?

I fully intended to leave this car completely stock, but one thing about it kills me. When I'm shifting from 1 to 2, it's almost impossible to keep it from falling on its face. All other shifts are just fine. Is this an issue that can be corrected with the tune? My car is a 1.8L 5 speed LT.

Correct, DSVM for those with Cruise Control on the 1.8L.

Yup, this is addressed in the new programming.

I have never done any tuning before, how is this done? Do I need to send in my ecm? Do I go somewhere to have this done? How does this affect the warranty? How much does this cost roughly? I am not computer savy in the least. I bearly know how to operate this phone, the Verizon guy would definitely attest to this as well.

Our engineers our currently working on this, but believe so. We know at the very least the operating system software updates can be "back ported" to 2014 and 2013 vehicles.

It don't work that way, but from what people have said that the tune does not add to the counter, and is transparent. So you can take the tune off and take into t he dealer, when all is done, reinstall the tune [emoji1]
