Meet the GM LFV engine. It's the big brother to the LE2 (the LE2 is due to be released in the upcoming 2016 Chevrolet Cruze). The TRIFECTA calibration for the LFV engine offers substantial power gains and drivability improvements.

In fact, as far as we're concerned, 2016 is going to be one of the most interesting years ever. GM is rolling out their "small gasoline engine (SGE)" line to several vehicles in the US (though SGE has existed in other regions for several years now). The soon-to-be-released 2016 Chevrolet Cruze receives the LE2 engine, which is a 1.4L SIDI (spark ignited direct injection) turbocharged 4 cylinder engine. However, aside from sharing similar displacement with the current 1.4L turbocharged engine in the Cruze, Sonic, and other vehicles, there is very little that is similar between the two engines (even the bore and stroke differs between the LUJ/LUV and the LE2).
Its "big brother" is the LFV engine, which is a 1.5L SIDI turbocharged 4 cylinder engine, which is installed in the new 2016 Chevrolet Malibu. Compared to the LE2, the engines share the same bore, but the LFV has a longer stroke (86.6mm vs 81.3mm). Out of the box, the LFV is rated at 163HP / 184TQ vs the LE2's rating of 153HP / 177TQ.
The tuning calibration constructs are also completely new. These engines run at much higher boost pressure (versus the LUJ/LUV) on factory programming and now employ new airflow control constructs not ever seen previously.
SGE is the future of the small displacement engines for GM. The LFV and the LE2 are here now. So is TRIFECTA. Stay tuned for more details as our products become available for the SGE vehicles!
