To be fair, you get more than looks alone with Eibachs.

I can second that statement. I got them recently, well for the looks of course. However I got better mileage, better cornering, braking and better aerodynamics. My sonic used to shake when it was windy, this has drastically reduced now. It was definitely a good investment for me

Here's my sonic next to my previously owned and will forever love 2004 350Z convertible, imported from USA (not by me). It will remain my favorite Japanese (rice-rocket) car. I am from Sri Lanka and almost all our vehicles are Japanese. Now that I am in Dubai, all I see is American and European cars, Arabs love their GM vehicles

Rented a 1.4t LTZ at the airport in OKC! Options were Yaris, something by Kia or Hyundai and the Sonic. My only deciding factor: "is the Sonic a turbo??"

Definitely glad I chose the RS manual... I don't feel like the LTZ has anything besides better fuel economy to offer

Was it an LTZ auto or manual? Or did the LTZ only come in auto?

I'd be interested to hear your impressions of the difference in gearing between the RS and the LTZ.

It was an LTZ auto, no manual option because rental (unsure of availability in the real world)

I enjoyed the set up for highway cruising. The auto does a great job of keeping the revs down and is responsive when you kick the right foot for passing. Shifting is smooth and predictable, but definitely not sporty.

Even in manual mode it's very evident this is an economy based transmission. The "manual" control barely provides any engine braking, so after a few aggressive curves and playing with the push button shifting I kicked back to "D" and drove the balance of my trip in drive.

The RS manual feels punchier across the board, but I've also done the bypass/bypass and intake, and a manual will always feel more connected. At the end of the day it's not a fair comparison.

Apples and oranges are both tasty.
