2016 turbo spark?

My sister in law just got a new spark. Update looks that look a lot better than the old one (in my opinion) and it comes with a 1.4! Unfortunately it is a non turbo. I was wondering if anyone had seen anyone take an exhaust from a sonic and made a 1.4t spark yet? If you have heard of one please post links so I can check it out.

On another note I got a test drive in a 2.0t camaro, I think I'll be picking one of those up next year. Beautiful, fuel efficient, fast. I think I'm in love.

They're impressive. "Muscle car" guys talk smack but it's a damn healthy motor in a fantastic chassis and for $25k there's not much else in the market that's as good

The all new 2016 spark uses the Direct injection 1.4L which is a completely new engine. Would have to look at a 2016+ all new cruze to get that direct injection engine with a turbo.

If I was doing that though why not get the all new 1.5T from the a 2016 Malibu? The 1.5T makes 160HP and 184lb-ft of torque stock. Would think going from the stock 1.4L 98HP/94TQ the 2016 Spark would be a rocket ship with that kind of power.

I have a strong feeling GM is going to put the 1.0T 3 cylinder ecotec engine in the Spark sometime in the next few model years.

I think it's a new engine with an aluminum block...not iron like we have now...same displacement, but different enough the parts don't interchange.

They could turbocharge the new 1.4T with direct injection and get it up to 160HP probably pretty easily...

Ah, I kinda figured it would be a new block but it was worth asking.

I know they nicer motors that would fit, my idea was just do a "simple" turbo upgrade with parts from a wrecked sonic. Oh well.

It is a beautiful car, the new spark. It's just extremely slow. When flooring it from a light it feels like my sonic starting off but then never "picks up" lol.

And yeah muscle car guys can say whatever they want about a turbo 4 camaro. It comes with the same horses as the lt1 camaro lol. With a few upgrades (tune cai exhaust) is expect it will easily be in the 300s at the wheels and it looks and drives great. If I had the money, I'd pick one up now and not think twice. I love v8s but I can't afford to drive one 40+ miles a day to work...

I like the interior of the new one better, but the exterior of the old more... however, with some nice wheels, tinted windows and a little lower...that new Spark will be cool!

With a few upgrades (tune cai exhaust) is expect it will easily be in the 300s at the wheels and it looks and drives great. If I had the money, I'd pick one up now and not think twice. I love v8s but I can't afford to drive one 40+ miles a day to work...

With that said however don't waste your money on either of those two engine options. The 4 cylinder gets only 3MPG better than the V6, and THE V6 GETS THE EXACT SAME 28MPG HIGHWAY AS THE V8!!!!! Once you put a few options on a V6 camaro, you are within a few thousand dollars of a V8 model. Would you want a 335HP v6 or a 455HP v8???

Stock the all new 1.4T with direct injection makes 153HP and 177lb-ft or torque. a nice improvement over our current 1.4T 138HP and 148lb-ft of torque.

I know fuel economy is getting much better for v8 and v6 but I doubt their mpg numbers. My sonic is rated much lower than I actually get.

As for the sound, I did drive the turbo 4 and I didn't notice it sounded bad, not that I would care. I would put on a full turbo back cat less exhaust. I guess the tuner in me likes the turbo more than a v6.

Yep, I've driven GM's 3.6L DI V6, pretty smooth and pulls hard for what it is.

Love the potential of the 2.0L turbo I4, but the V6 is a smoother motor. However, with like 2k in parts, the I4 will beat the V6 everywhere.

Nothing compares to the sound of a high performance V8.

Just put 600 miles on the GTO this weekend (attended the Iola Car Show in Wisconsin).

That 462 cubic inch Pontiac makes some sweet sounds...

If I keep my foot out of the secondaries of the 800cfm Quadrajet I can pull 17 - 18 MPG with 3.42 gears...

No doubt. I have a k10 with a built 350 and v8s are awesome, however it gets under 10mpg [emoji28] I can't afford the fill or drive the damn thing. Love my sonic for that.

What kind of gears do you have in that thing. A 350 should do better than 10 MPG in a K10. Are you sure your odometer is measuring the miles correctly?

My wife's '72 Camaro has a built 350 can pull near 20 MPG with 3.08 gears.

My only concern would be with the CVT. Would it handle the power? Obviously you can get a manual.

I don't know, didn't even realize it was cvt.

As far as my truck goes it has 4.10 gearing and it's actually much lower gas Milan than it should be. We're having issues with a leaky tank and crappy intake/carb. It's on my todo list when ever I get a couple nickels I can rub together.
