How to get Abarth Sound (or close to it)

Hey guys, I would have thought that this has been asked by now but I couldn't find an answer with the search. So I love the sound of the abarth, even if it is a little obnoxious lol. How do I get that sound. I live in the city where you have to get emissions, so is this even possible? All the full exhaust kits sound like raspy poop to me.
They are both 1.4l turbo's so it would seem pretty possible to make them sound similar...

In all seriousness though if you wanted sound like an abarth, you should have bought an abarth, but since you didn't, here's their exhaust setup as far as I know. Its resonator with no muffler. Not sure what kind of resonator though.

That's pretty much the sound i'm going for! Is that your actual car in the videos? If so, dont think it sounds too quiet at all. Do you know if it will pass an emissions test now? Can you make it backfire/pop by downshifting? I didn't get the abarth because the sonic was half the price, has 4 doors, usable cargo, doesnt look quite as ugly, hoping more reliable, and I don't really care too much if it gets door ding'd, like I would with an abarth. It is my city car daily driver afterall.
Also, if you have an intake, can you still hear the blow off noises well, because I have an mpfab intake and I am addicted to making it hiss and hope that doesnt go away.

Yeah that's actually why I got a Sonic instead of an Abarth too :b Plus I didn't know they came in manual or I would have gotten it instead :b Anyway, do you like the first or second link? The first is just the ZZP turboback, and the second is the turboback plus muffler delete. Neither will pass emissions :/ but that's fine as long as you only drive it "somewhere in Mexico" ;) The downpipe is actually supposed to be really easy to remove and put the cat back on to take to emissions testing. The first one will backfire and pop and it'll sound like far away muffled thunder. Absolutely beautiful. The ladies would always be like "sounds like it's gonna rain." They didn't even know it was my car. It does it not just when you downshift though, when I let off it would do it too. You could hear it best by letting off in first. As for the second one though. Yes! I don't know if you could hear from the last video but when I would let off it kind of crackled. Unfortunately when I let off it kind of sounded like a Mustang without mufflers. So it sounded like farts a bit and popped. It sounded nice still though. Really nice, only reason I took it off was because every ricer wanted to race. I'm gonna put the straight pipe back on though. I miss it. With the first one you could hear the turbo really nice in person, but with the second it really whistled loudly.

I'll upload some videos of my current setup, resonator with no muffler later tonight hopefully and I'll link them here. I know that the turboback minus the downpipe, so with the main cat still in place. It sounded nice but it wouldn't whistle. With the downpipe it adds a bit of rasp and a whole lot of beautiful whistling noises.

I actually like the sounds in the first link, first video. I would have guessed that one was actually the one without the muffler. It sounds better than all the youtube videos that have the zzp! You must have just gotten lucky lol
Also sidenote, the abarth was ONLY available with manual, at least it was. I like that in a car, especially nowadays!

That is my car! But those videos are not of my current set up. I know my car pops because... I actually don't know why. I don't think it's common. Try the turboback though! It's only like $750 and you can install it yourself with a jack in about 3 hours if you know what to do. Here's a hint, remove the plastic lining on the wheel well to get to the hidden bolt.

I found out today after my finished install that soundclips on the interwebs do it no justice what so ever. I have the ZZP downpipe, midpipde, high flow 2ndary, and a DNA motoring cat back. It's only raspy-ish when it's full throttle. Otherwise its very low pitch.

Idk man my car I think is the exception not the rule. Yours is probably going to sound like Jordan's. His has those pops like mine did with the muffler but quieter. If you pay attention you can hear it, it kinda sounds like water bubbling. I'd say if you want pops the only ways I know work are 1. straight pipe 2. more fuel 3. the old nail in the exhaust trick these ricers have been doing for ages. I'd say if you're not willing to modify your car because you love it just save your money. I did it for the love of it, I just happened to get lucky.

Which one do you guys like the best? I feel that the straight pipe is obnoxious but sounds beautiful. I liked the muffler but I didn't like how if I let off the gas at like 3k RPM's it would drone horribly and not sound nice at all. And the resonator well I feel like that one makes it sound like a "true" tuner car.

W/Res W/O Muffler sounded deeper. So I like that. Didn't hear how it sounded inside the car though when driving. That may be different.
