Speaker adapters

I thought I would write this so no one has to buy the aftermarket adapters for any of the speakers. All I did was cut out the old factory speakers like shown in the photos attached. Then I soldered in some speaker wire to the factory connector so I didn't have to destroy any factory wiring. Depending on the speaker brand, you might have to drill some small holes and bolt the speakers to the bracket. If you guys have any other questions, feel free to message me or reply to this thread.

I had thought about doing that, but I wanted to keep the oem speakers for re-swap or backup.

I personally didn't care about the factory ones since they don't sound good at all. I bought cheap speakers that sound better than the factory ones. I eventually wanna get better ones tho.

Cadence & Pyle. Gonna buy another set of the Cadence I think to replace the "just ok" Pyle's. They sound clean & don't try to distort the sound when turned up. Bass thumps hard since I padded the inside of door panels.

Okay thanks! What material did you use for padding in the doors? And how did you install it?

(don't laugh) Yellow stuff is like some super glorified electrical tape that we have at my work. I took all the tabs off panel & reinforced them by wrapping the heads with duct tape then slid them back in their slots all nice & snug. Wedged some foam padding where the window switches are, securing the no rattle I was after. Put a layer (or 2) of duct tape over everything to keep it stationary & to ensure my yellow tape would stick.
I then used reg. black electrical tape to tighten up holes in plastic where the connection wires come through in the door itself. Then used my magic yellow tape to cover it all up. The speakers use the hollow doors quite well now that there's nothing to buzz or rattle. Very time consuming! I think it turned out better than I had hoped for. Bass gets it outa those 6.5" speakers with doors sealed like that.

I ended up doing the same thing this weekend. I ordered speakers for my son's car from Crutchfield a few months back. They came with Schoche adapters. They never sounded a good as expected them to. We took them back out and realized the Schoche adapters are about 1" shorter than the factory units and the speaker ring doesn't seal against the door panel. They had very little bass and a lot of resonance in the midrange. You could feel the bass in the door panel, just not hear it.

Today we threw the Schoche adapters away and installed the speakers into the modded factory housing. They sound WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY better. Factory speaker housings fit better also. They put foam tape on all the surfaces to prevent rattles and improve sealing.

I did the same thing on wife's 2015 Equiniox .. . I noticed while doing a "dry fit" that the Scosche adapters would not seal.
Plus, I applied an extra layer of foam seal tape all around the speaker.
