whats the recommended mileage to change the timing belt? I've got almost 80k on mine, all highway driving though.

Thanks!! debating on fixing the one I have or getting rid of it and replacing with a 17'. Now that I've seen the new one, the dash annoys me.

Ordered the parts today for the timing belt replacement take it to mechanic next 100 thousand miles also having spark plugs replaced along with the boots.

Shoot! Lol... I replaced mine at 148k. I had a local mechanic do mine and it was 390 for belt, tensioners pulleys and water pump. He also told me the reason for the interval was not for the belt, but for the bearings on the tensioner. They can abruptly seize and cause the belt to snap before the belt wears down.

The local Chevy dealer quoted me $1,220 for parts and labor. Timing belt, serpentine belt, water pump, idler pulley, etc.
That's about half what my car is worth.
Independent shop I trust quoted me $590 for the same parts and labor. I'm leaving it with him Friday.

The shop did the work but didn't clear the code. I tried pulling the 3 fuses listed somewhere else on this forum. That didn't erase the code.
How do you erase everything and start over?
My car has a few other codes showing up on the dash.

I just picked up the "2017 Sonic sedan" January 2nd, 2018 for $12,8** on dealer special. Brand new, 22 miles on the odometer from test drives and what not. It's the 1.8L LS 5-speed manual. In retrospect, I probably should've got the 1.4L turbo, but i'm happy with it. You can check out what i've done so far with mods. BUT i could've done mods a lot easier with the 1.4L Turbo.
