The hard part for me was getting the dozens of numbers correct to register to get the rebate. The problem about using the UG is you give up the ability of OnStar to track your vehicle diagnostics for you, a heavy penalty indeed.

Once registered, then plug it in, turn car not engine on, let it discover what ecu program your Sonic has, you set 12.2 for fuel tank size and 1.36 for engine size, let it find gauges to display, and you are good to go.

Wait so does this block OnStar or something?

And I dont have the turbo...

I already knew about the turbo, had a brain block there. As far as I can tell all elements of OnStar will work except for the diagnostics, which means no email alerts and such.

Again, I got carried away with things like fuel tank size and overlooked which engine you have in your Sonic.

To be honest, I feel I am too huge a fan of OnStar to do justice to an answer to your question. Hopefully Vanessa will check in and answer soon.

Because of our CAN type OBDII port.

Our OBDII port has a certain amount of bandwidth. Normally, there is enough for Onstar. When you plug in the UG though, which uses some bandwidth, there isn't enough for Onstar. It uses more bandwidth the shorter you have the page refresh, and less the long it is set.

oh and i cant get the intake temp to read in fahrenheit. its stuck on celsius.

i'm just asking. i learned alot from reading the overwhelming document known as the Ultra-Gauge user manual.

i read a good amount of it last night while installing it in my car. i havent opened it up yet today though. i will when i get home.

i saw in another thread someone said to set the power off mode to "3".
but what is the best mode for power on?
also, is there a mode that makes it turn on when the key is in the ON position instead of me having to start the engine?

That was me. I don't recall off the top of my head, but you can find which setting does that in the manual. I said power off to 3 because then it doesn't turn on unless the car is running.

Let me browse the manual real quick. I'll find it.

Page 34-35 has your answer. Power off mode 2, power on detect mode 0, power on delay 6.
