Hey guys,

Bought a 2017 Sonic RS 1.8L about 6 months ago and I love it. Felt like joining this forum to get advice/information if I needed it.

Was told to get a 1.4 turbo but the price was great and I had no issues with the performance whatsoever.

My only issue is the gas mileage. Would love to hear any suggestions to increase my efficiency, especially in the city.

Other than that, I love this car.

They sell an RS with a 1.8? I thought it only came in a 1.4. Welcome though!

I’ve been happy with the 1.8L too. I assume you’ve got an automatic hatchback? You’re looking at around 34MPG highway according to EPA, the 1.4T is a bit higher:

I can get 40MPG on the highway by keeping speeds to 75MPH, but the 5sp LS sedan with smaller 15” tires seems to be a bit more efficient...at the cost of less practicality (trunk vs hatch) and less cool looking!

Have you checked your tire pressures? Manual says 38PSI for my 2015.

That's probably why I got such a good deal for it, it came with a remote start & everything so I jumped at the opportunity. I found that all the 1.4s sold pretty fast and were marked up much higher.

Great advice, with the auto hatchback, I have no issues with the performance and mileage on the highway, its really just the city as well as the quick acceleration when I start from a complete stop.

Since its the winter, I keep the pressure around 40 psi, summer its around 35-37. Ive also been experimenting with different gas brands.

Supposedly its bigger wheels and better suspension? I just love the leather wheel and sportier trim.

So basically it's got everything except the 1.4 engine? Still a good deal unless you're looking for performance. The rs package has 10mm lower suspension with better struts I believe and bigger wheels
