Ultragauge and ScanGauge Thread

Just went for a drive as I had not paid any attention to the loop. Mine opens under the same conditions, it also opened when I started, and was opened after I stopped in my driveway.

Thanks for the question as that gave me another chance to listen to Dusty Street, who I used to listen to when she was on KSAN back in the late sixties and early seventies.

AFR stayed on 1.0 until I parked in the driveway where it went to.8 then to 1.1 before settling on its normal 1.0. Fuel trims are like boost levels, both short and long trims bounce around too much to have meaning for me.

my UG "blinks" sometimes. like the screen will flash black then back to normal every minute or two. anybody else's do this?

Factory O2 sensors are "narrow band" with a range centered around a stoic air/fuel mixture (14.7:1). The ECU will only use the narrowband O2 feedback to adjust the short term fuel trim in scenarios where a stoic ratio is prefered (like idle and part throttle cruising). This is when you see the closed loop icon.

Air fuel targets for cold start (richer), decel (leaner), and WOT (about 12:1) are outside the measurable range of a narrowband O2 sensor so the ECU switches to open loop, ignores the sensor's reading, and uses preprogrammed tables and other sensors to determine fuel trim.

Yes.

Every fuel injected car I've ever known has run a narrowband O2 sensor and goes into open loop at WOT.

Tha K20Z3 in the Civic Si's actually had wide band O2's making them extremely easy to dial in.

I wish more manufacturers would go to wideband. The cost difference is hardly a deterrant now. And the added control and accuracy would be great.

well...here's an annoying little bug with the ultragauge i discovered...i'll let the knowledge base article explain. Hopefully, you can avoid this mistake.

There is a bug in the UltraGauge EM 1.2 which will result in a garbled display when the current page is changed. Typically this happens when changing the page to page 6 or 7. Once garbled, UltraGauge will then reboot after ~16 seconds. At this point UltraGauge will continue to reboot every ~16 seconds.

To restore UltraGauge, please follow the procedure below.

The bug is caused by unassigning a gauge. For example, if RPM is assigned to zone 1, and this assignment is removed by changing the zone for RPM to blank, the display will become garbled next time the page is changed.
Avoid this issue by not individually unassigning gauges.
Also, please note that it is not necessary to first unassign a zone before assigning a new gauge to that zone.
For example, If Zone 1 is set to RPM, but you would like zone 1 assigned to MPH, simply assign MPH to zone 1. This will automatically unassign RPM, without issue.
If you would like to leave zones unassigned to make the display less populated with gauges, considering changing the gauge display format to display 4 gauges instead of 6.

If you must unassign a gauge, the "Unassign All Gauges" command can be used. This will unassign all gauges on all pages and then new page/zone/gauge assignments can be made.
MENU --> Gauge/Page Menu .. --> Select Gauge/Page --> Unassign All Gauges


Restoring a garbled display:
1. Unplug UltraGauge
2. Set the ignition to the RUN position
3. Press and hold the MENU key.
4. Plug in UltraGauge.
5. Wait 5 seconds, Release the MENU key. The MENU system will start.
6. Select UltraGauge Setup.. --> Restore ALL Defaults.

You will then be prompted to confirm. Once confirmed UltraGauge will reboot and begin Scanning for the interface and protocol used. Once found UltraGauge will begin Gauge discovery.
The down side of a global reset is that it will erase any configuration and calibration previously performed.

Another bug, at least for me. After a hard right turn my Ultragauge will read that my fuel was filled, and reset to 12.2.

I wonder if your "smart low threshold" is set too low. I have been reading through the manual (my UG should be here Wednesday) and noticed that setting and thought I would share the finding. Hope it helps .

How many liters did you guys enter into your UG for your motor size? I noticed it has a hundredths position and the manual said to set it as close as possible I believe. I noticed that a "specs" thread mentioned the 1.4l motor was 1364 cc... should I put 1.36 as my engine value?

That's for the input guys! I noticed that some sites are reporting 12.1 for the fuel capacity and 12.2 on others... Why can't everyone just agree on one number .
