just wondering what the other sonic owners out their do for a living?

i work for Sikorsky Global Helicopters in coatesville pa, 2nd shift line crew lead, my job responsibility is moving of all aircraft, fueling/ De-fueling. over the road hauling, fuel calibrations, set up customer presentations, etc... here's a cool pic from a couple weeks ago. our company built the worlds fastest helicopter so they are on tour with it untill it goes on display at the Smithsonian institute.

Actually, I work in the printing industry (14 years), so most of my work ends up in landfills.

lol, you can believe what you wish i cant change that. ask anyone that works in aviation though, working on line crew sucks. you are the company b..... at first its awesome but then your like ehhgggg.. but it pays the bills and puts food on the table.

Well, I hear what you say, but it still looks cool to me! Plus, I'm betting you guys have a lot of pride and take it pretty seriously, since pilots have to trust you with their lives.

yeah you do have to have alot of situation awareness. but we try to have a good time. its kinda like a fire station, your pretty much on call till someone needs something and when their isn't a whole lot going on thats when we get stuck detailing aircraft. and doing stupid stuff.

Hey shaggy, I actually work in a fellow UTC company to Sikorsky, Pratt & Whitney jet engines.

I'm a mechanical engineer, my current job is analyzing and predicting how cracks grow in jet engines components. It's interesting, but can become tedious since I'm chained to my computer most of the time. Don't get to see 'real hardware' like you do much...

As most of you know, cracks in jet engines can have very bad consequences...google "Souix City, Iowa DC-10 GE engine crash", a flaw in the titanium of the fan hub started a crack and bad things happened!

Senior Engineering Technician at a small biotech startup- we're working on an automated DNA processor that will allow an untrained operator to take a cheek swab and insert it into the machine, push a button, and get an identity profile (that meets FBI specs) in less than two hours. Current technology takes two days, and most labs have a 6 month backlog.

Before that I had a 10 year career in nuclear weapons R&D, and nuclear counterterrorism, at Lawrence Livermore Lab. Before that I had a 15 year career as a registered respiratory therapist. And before that I had another 8 years or so doing recreational programming for special populations.

Yeah, it's been an unusual career path...
