Poll: Automatic versus Manual transmission

Though it would be interesting to see how many of us have automatic transmissions versus manual. I have an Auto LTZ hatch but go ahead and list yours.....

I've test driven both. I'm partial to manual cars myself. The wife is partial to automatics. For this particular car (1.4 turbo) I think it drives better with the auto so I went that route.

The manual was too easy to stall, gutless before boost and the motor mounts felt way too soft. You could feel the engine bouncing off the mounts in slow moving traffic when the A/C cycled on and off. Very annoying. The auto holds boost well between shifts and seems to shift very quickly. It felt like a quicker car in day to day driving.

Auto - gots better things to be doing besides manually shifting in stop'n'go and regular city traffic where mine will be and is spending 95% of it's life.

LT manual, I like control over my cars and autos just don't come close.

The added fuel economy and grand of the price are perks

I had to get an auto cuz of my wife & boy am I glad I did. It really is a nice tranny, shifts quickly & holds boost while doing it. Also, if you wanna shift yourself just throw it into "M" mode, **** works great & is alot of fun redlining without using a damn clutch pedal lol! Besides, I'm tired of driving stick since I've done it all my life, time to relax behind the wheel now. To me, the auto for the 1.4T is much better than stick shift, that's why it came out later in the cycle. I love my car, it has everything I wanted (fully loaded 2LT), but the most surprising thing is how good it really drives, I didn't expect it to be so quick or agile. It's power figures don't give it credit or do it justice, it's the best hatchback out there imho, hands down!

5-speed manual here. It's my first stick and now that I'm more used to it I really like it. The salesman almost convinced me to get the auto and use manual mode, but I've always wanted to try a stick and took the risk buying it.

The only time I miss an auto is when I get stuck in bumper to bumper traffic. Luckily I rarely have to do that, but if I did I think I'd have taken the auto. I can't imagine pressing a button is as fun as rowing through the gears, so I'm glad I got this.
