Yes, as RS Turbo said, and that is a good sign as it means the manual transmission RSs are rolling. Expect a few extra days in Quality Check and then shipping. At the beginning of the model year some Sonics were assembled a week before their TPW, so I wonder if Chevy is being conservative when first setting the time period for assembly?

Well I hope she comes sooner than later. Do cruzes and Sonics come from the same plant? I've received cruzes as soon as 4 days after build

No Cruze comes from Lordstown Ohio, Sonics are built in Lake Orion Mi....

I almost added the sunroof to mine but I was told it would basically put you back to step 1. Also I ordered mine almost a week before I posted about it. Plus I'm a GM employee with a few connections

A little bit of everything, I started as a tech, went to being a service writer, worked as the service manager for a bit and now I'm the new car delivery coordinater. I check in the new cars, test drive them, install accessorys and work with the inventory manager to keep interesting things in stock. I just started this new position two weeks ago. It's not nearly as challenging as being a tech, but it pays better and I come home mostly clean. (and its fun to put the first couple miles on the zl1s when we get them in)
And for the record I have a GM number that gets me the same discount as my grandpa that retired from 40 something years of Packard building, and my uncle that works at the plant in Roanoke Indiana. Maybe there's another step up but I'm still getting a great deal.

How much down would a dealer typically require to order an rs?

I figure if it takes a while to get here, I could put 500 down and then have time to save a little more for a bigger down payment by the time it arrives, while being able to order sooner rather than later. I'll have to talk to the dealer to see how that would work out.

I could handle that. I wouldn't have as much down as I originally wanted but I could get one sooner. An extra 150 a month payment shouldn't make or break me as long as I eat out less. That's where I really blow money. That's almost a car payment itself.

Good news. Once the dealer gets allocation, which it seems your dealer finally did, the order moves fairly quickly. You could be at 3300 w/ a TPW by the end of the week.

I will ask Becky to check on this tomorrow as I am not certain if it applies retroactively or from today going forward: Orders for RS models equipped with the 6-speed manual transmission are being slotted for production beginning the week of 11/05/2012.
