True, but having worked for an OEM supplier, I can assure you that the supplier production breaks are carefully coordinated with the auto companies to ensure their interruption is lock-step with the auto makers.
Today's contracts give the car maker the right to make claims for production losses should their plant get shut down on account of the supplier.

Received an email this morning from GMConnects that it was put on a truck on 5 Dec. I'm in Dayton OH and Orion MI is not terribly far so I'm hoping to pick it up this week!

I'll post pics. I'm very excited to get the keys and park it away from our soon-to-be salt covered roads of winter. I'm sure I get plenty of time to run it around and get it dirty!

Picked up the new Sonic Wed, Dec 7. A day which will live in quickness and fun!!!!
Love it so far! Bluetooth set-up was a breeze.

Pics soon. First car with On-Star, heated seats, and bluetooth. I'm crazy- spoiled after just one day! Other car is 04 VUE, 4spd, which i LOVE! Increase MPG is most welcome. I have not seen any hatchs or sedans on the roads here in Dayton but the dealer says they are seeing significantly increased interest in folks wanting test-drives.

The wait is well-worth it!! Not sure why/how I received mine four weeks after order accept but trust me -- when you take the keys you will LOVE it!
Yesterday one guy walked clear across a large parking lot to ask me what it was and tell me he thought it was a very nice looking car. He was very surprised to learn it was a Chevy.

It gets worse! Last Friday, I moved from 3000 to 3100; then, this morning, I got kicked back to 3000 again.
The good thing is I'm trading in the Malibu at the dealer, So I'm not gonna be in a bind because of the delay. Just a matter of impatience, not need.
I had a 2005 Malibu Maxx that I traded in for my 2008 Yaris. The sole reason was for gas mileage. Other than that, the car was great, loved the V6.
Not like you, I gave my car (the Yaris) to my 20 year daughter so she has a reliable car for commuting to college. Hence, I have her 2002 Dodge Neon that is just terrible. My bad for buying it!, went against my better judgment. However, it's been OK for the last two weeks.
My Sonic (1LTZ turbo, sedan, inferno orange) is still at 3800. Since 11/22.
At least Joe's post gave me a little more hope. He stated that it's worth the wait.

Yeah, it seems the sunroof somehow impacted my schedule. And it was strange the way GMconnects was saying they'd check into my car then never follow through...makes me wonder if they didn't want to post whatever was the cause of the delay. It has been a pretty long wait.
However, I'm actually seeing some light at the end of the tunnel, now!:banana:

About a week if it doesn't hit Quality Control. A couple weeks if it does. Here's a copy of my logs from 3400 on up. The car is in my driveway now, although the GMConnects log doesn't reflect the 6000 status.
01/18/2012 (3400) Order Broadcast (internal plant paperwork order produced). Order is sent to various build & supplier areas to bring order together.
02/01/2012 (3800) Order produced and vehicle is being prepared for shipping. For Cadillac, GMC and Buick customers, please contact your dealer or customer service for further updates as no further updates available at this time.
02/01/2012 (4000) Vehicle available to ship.
02/01/2012 (4150) Invoiced (order is invoiced to the dealer).
02/01/2012 (4B00) Your car is bayed and is waiting for transportation by truck, rail or transfer to vendor.
02/07/2012 (4200) Shipped (vehicle is shipped to the dealer or interim point of delivery).
02/09/2012 (5000) Vehicle has been delivered to dealer.
