Hello everyone, I figure I would introduce myself.
I am a new owner of a 2013 Sonic LT 1.4t 6-speed hatch in black granite.
pics incoming....
So far the only "mods" I have made is I have had some 3M color stable tint installed on the windows and put a black Chevy Sonic license plate frame on it haha.
I am actually pretty familiar with the whole turbo modding path although it has been a few years since I have had the chance to do so. I used to own a 1995 Eagle Talon Tsi AWD that was a lot of fun to work on and drive and I was a part of the dsmtuners community. This car is defiantly not quite the same but the talon never got 40mpg either.
Honestly, I don't really plan to do any modding to the car until my bumper to bumper warranty is expired but I do enjoy doing my research in the mean time. The potential for the car is a lot more than I thought originally after looking around here and seeing some of the numbers posted with simple a few bolt-ons and even just a basic tune. Now if only it were not front-wheel drive haha. I think my biggest complaint currently is trying to explain to people that this isn't an Aveo with a different name on it as that is what most people who talk to me assume and some still won't be swayed.
I really have been enjoying the car though. Originaly, I was set out looking for just a car to commute to work and was somewhat fun to drive. I was out looking at the Civic, Elantra, Forte and whatever else I could find. In my area, the big push for me was the Chevy dealer (Palm Chevy) was really much easier to deal with than any of the others which wanted way too much and I really wasn't in the mood to play the traditional car haggle game. I drive the 1.8 motor first and was really not impressed.. luckily I decided maybe try the 1.4t out and I really had a good time with it. The car I drove was an auto so I had to have the guy order me a 6-speed stick in the hatch version. Took him 24hours to find what I wanted and I drove it home by the weekend.
I decided to go with the LT model as I really dislike trying to care for leather interiors and I don't need a big touch screen for my radio. Originally, I wanted to get the black wheels from chevy as an upgrade but the cost was quite high vs just getting any aftermarket wheel. That will actually be my next major upgrade to the car once my tires wear down. Not really decided yet if I want to go with the 16" or 17" at this point.
Anyways, I have rambled on long enough. I will be around and hope to contribute as best as I can for the community.
