Mine shipped too. Earlier it said it shipped at 1:30PM now it says 4:52PM so I am wondering if it already went through one of their other facilities or what. Hoping tomorrow for my new car since I am fairly close, but probably more like Monday...

Great! I love going to dealerships to pick up a brand new car. Every time i do it it's like being a kid on Christmas Eve all over again.

I'm finally going to get my Sonic tomorrow. It's been 5 months since I ordered in mid-July...the 'orange debacle' set me back a couple months. Then the QC delayed the silver car for a month.

On Saturday my dealer informed me the car was unloaded from the train car at East Brookfield, Mass. I spoke to the nice lady at Accurate Auto Carrier trucking company. I explained to her that I was waiting for the car to leave on a road trip to FLA. She said she would put it on a "hot ticket" and oit would be delivered tomorrow.

Talk about cutting it close, I have to use up my remaining 9 vacation days before Christmas, so I am starting tomorrow. If I can leave tomorrow afternoon, I can make it to south FL by Wednesday evening.

It's finally here!!!

Well it didn't show up yesterday like the lady said on Monday. So I called the trucking company, "it will be delivered Wednesday before noon". So I called at 10AM this morning..."Yes it will be there before noon"
After waiting at teh dealer since 11AM, at 12:30 I call, "Oh he's fuelling up and is heading there" The truck finally roles in at 3:15...

It's been a long 5 months... Especially the last three weeks I've been sick to my stomach, getting bad info from Chevy Cust Serv, then having the car sit at the railyard in Michigan for three weeks...

I had to use my 9 vacation days before Xmas, so yesterday and today were wasted vaca days....Uuugh!

Anyway, I'm loading up and heading for south FLA.

Dealer called yesterday (13 dec 2011) and my sonic as at dealership.

Had afternoon off so for a drive wife and I were gonna go there anyway just to check (get rail head or whatever) anyway.

Right before we went out the door dealer called and they had just received it. I stated we were on our way and understand they have things to do. They washed it and set it outside.

Wife and her friend were impressed.
Salesman seems more the then normal impressed and it was a good car for a younger person and he may get one himself and all that stuff.


Meanwhile they also had a sonic sedan as a giveaway car since september. The winner swapped up to a cruiz and the sonic had been on the lot all these months.

So it must be the hatchback turbo 6 speed the really really works.

12 weeks later...still no car...told to wait another 6 weeks.

Okay, so I'm a first time car buyer. I really wasn't expecting that buying a new car would be so difficult. I started looking for a car back in May. I did a lot of research and settled on the Hyundai Accent. It seemed to be the most car for the money. All I wanted was the SE in black with a manual trans. Well...I waited 4 months and both of the local dealerships turned up empty handed. I got frustrated, and in mid Sept. decided to go check out the Sonic. Mind you the Sonic was not available at the time I started looking for a car. I was surprised at how much more helpful the Chevy salesperson was. All I had to do was sit down and tell them what car I wanted and they would order it for me, and for invoice price to boot! It turned out to be the same price I was looking at paying for the Hyundai, and it was American made. What a deal.

My order was for a 1LT, Black, Hatch, with the Turbo engine. I was told it would be 6-8 weeks. I was ready to ride by the end of October. So I waited. And waited. And waited. 6 weeks, 8 weeks, 10 weeks, 12. I spoke with the sales rep several times, and each time she said, "just a couple weeks out." Then she gave me an actual date last we spoke: Dec. 12th. Woo-hoo, and early Christmas gift! Can you guess what happened when the 12th came around? "Well, your car still isn't ready for some reason, the manufacturer is giving us a code we've never seen before. Evidently, it was scheduled for production 11/23 but then the production codes started moving backwards. Now it's looking like another 6-8 weeks the manager told me. WTF?

The only up side to this whole debacle is that in the extra 6 weeks I've waited already, and with the upcoming 6 weeks, I'll be able to save up another $1000. So i'm thinking i'm just going to change my order and sport for the LTZ like I wanted all along. It won't be so bad, because I'll actually be out of the country for all of January for work, so it's not like a need a new car right away. But this has definitely been a very aggravating purchasing experience.

Anyone else had a similar experience?

Almost every time I order and as I have mentioned elsewhere every time I go through this process I vow I will never do it again and I always hold to that vow until the next time I order.

But the end result has so far been satisfying enough that I have decided I no longer will make that vow.

The Turbo LTZ is on constraint (less than four weeks) so you may want to stay with the 1lt.

Picante, it was frustrating for me as well, the car got pulled for QC(which is a good thing), then sat for three weeks at the rail yard waiting a train ride to the NE. I got no updates on gmconnects.com from Nov 9th thru Dec 5th, meanwhile I was nursing along a car with blown head gasket and running out of time to use up my vacation days...

The dealer and Chevy do not directly control the shippers, so you get what you get...

Anyone else had a similar experience?

Picante, just about everyone who ordered a 1.4 has gone through what you are. Some, like myself, have had to wait due to QC, others due to the turbo LTZ constraint. Be patient, the wait is worth it.
