4 days ago My local dealer told me that there is not a manual 6speed LTZ Turbo within 800 miles of where I live. I looked on a car site last night and saw one at a local dealer within 25 miles of my house. I'm wondering with the constraint and seeing that everyone is having to order this car and wait, How this is possible. I called the dealer and they confirmed it was a manual 6speed LTZ 1.4 Hatch with Turbo. I'll go get it in 3 hours if this is the case, just seems to good to be true. Can anyone explain this?

It could have arrived after they did their search. Or they could have honestly overlooked the car you found, or the car you found isn't what the dealership that has it thinks it is. There have been a number of people who drove to a dealership only to find that the "1.4 hatch" they saw online was really a 1.8 hatch. Some people at dealerships are clueless believe it or not.

And if it really is a 1.4 model, it was just produced when the constraint wasn't in effect. The constraint hasn't been on forever. 1.4 LTZ models have been shipped.

The only way to know is to go look. At least its only a 25 mile drive.

Maybe not an explanation, but we know some turbo LTZ's have been delivered to dealers, although few and far between, so I suspect dealer stock orders for turbo Sonics favored the 1LT for reasons unknown.

Also, the one you found may have been a retail customer order that the buyer decided against after it came in. My understanding is these do not always show up on GlobalConnect when a dealer is doing a search, say for a dealer trade. Look at the bottom of the Window Sticker just above the VIN for the Sales Code and if it is an E than it was a Retail Customer build.

Anyone else who is sitting in QC limbo and awaiting a gmconnects update ever have thoughts of deserting? Looked online at the Crystal Red Tintcoat Cruze Eco that's sitting on the lot at the local dealer today and went... Hmmmmm.....

I know, be patient, should be only a week or two. Waiting.... Waiting.... Waiting.... This starts week 9!

oldertech, I do not recall seeing your status history, but if you have a turbo on order there has been a constraint on building them for two weeks now. although the plant will not return to production until the 9th, but when a constraint comes up in the middle of production it can mean something has turned up that needs replacing (engineering validation, which is the reason for this most recent halt) or parts shortage which when applicable is given as the reason and is not the given reason for the turbo complaint.

My guess is if your build week was in December you are experiencing a QC Hold due to some deficiency discovered. The car haulers do transport during this time, even though the plant is not producing.

It takes at least one week after finish before a new build leaves the plant, nothing to do with QC but everything to do with the paperwork involved. I once saw the different documents and although I can not recall them specifically, I do remember being surprised at the number (finance, several for the government etc.) then from the date it goes up for being shipped to the day shipped is another two or three days. I have never heard of a car leaving the plant to go to the dealer quicker than one week and absent QC it is usually about two weeks.

So that would put you to around the 21st, and though cars are shipped during the holiday break, the drivers still have the normal X-Mas and New Years days as holidays, this year being Friday and Monday because of the dates.

And, the truck won't leave until fully loaded, no matter how close you are. But it sounds like it could be there this coming week. Right now, I do not suspect a QC Hold. Chevy is not forthcoming but when you click on your VIN and you get your Window Sticker the paper work is completed and the car may even be on the truck. As close as you are, when the Window Sticker appears, the car will be only hours or perhaps a day behind.

oldertech: I just reread your status changes, your car was finished 11/16 not 12/08. I should have noticed. You probably are in a QC Hold because of the time that has elapsed since 11/16. Usually there are several 4B00s when a car is in a QC Hold and you are not showing those. An explanation could be there is a part either missing or needing replacement for several (or more) produced cars and there is no need for dispatch to keep checking their status.

It is rare for Chevy to admit a car is in a QC Hold, and even rarer for an admission of what part was affected. Sometimes it can be figured out, such as when a QC is ongoing and a recall comes out, but Chevy never has admitted a relationship between the two events.

Yea I work at the dealership and I've got them to admit its gone into a QC hold 3 times by they will not tell me any reason as to why or when it might come out. My dates are around the same time so it is probably for the same reason.

The after being produced updates come when the bar code reader swipes the bar code in the window next to the VIN. Dispatch does this for every move and I suspect it is done when ever the vehicle is worked on while in QC. I suspect this means oldertech in particular is waiting for a part as well as BryanAndrew.

Though the plant is on winter break, dispatch is still working and I also believe the QC people if they have work (parts) to do.

My new Sonic LZ1

I got my Sonic on Christmas Eve. I am very happy with the way it drives, but I was very disheartened to learn (only this week) that regardless of what color interior you order, GM installs a beige headliner and pillars. I ordered the "jet black/dark titanium" interior. But I have a beige headliner and pillars. I think it looks ridiculous, and I hate it. But I'll have to get used to is. I'm posting pictures.

The winter break goes to January 9, and that is when the Verano is supposed to ramp up to regular production, so you did lose a couple wks with the late order.
