First post (other than the 10 in the sticky).
I have a 2015 LT with the 1.4 and the 6 manual. It has 800 miles on it and is bone stock. Put the Ultragauge on yesterday to see how some things were working. Looks like the boost gets to around 16 psig on average. 0 to 60 was 8.36 seconds in Pittsburgh with temp in the high 80's. Nice, level straight stretch of road. I had the traction controls off by holding down the button.
Now the questions. Launching the car was tricky as all get out! I didn't want to wind it all the way up and dump the clutch and I just couldn't get a smooth launch. There was always a stumble and then things picked up.
Then I would hit the wall in first at around 6200 rpm. I mean it really goes down. I know there has to be some sort of rev limiter or other means to keep the revs down but the power drop at the limit has me wondering if this isn't the bypass valve dumping pressure. I certainly saw the boost drop when the limit was hit but that would happen under any limiting condition. I read the thread in the vendor section about the "bypass bypass" mod and wonder if that might help smooth things out a bit. A better launch and the ability to go right to the redline in first and I could easily see the 7.8 seconds claimed by Chevy for the 0-60 time. Any advice would be appreciated.
I traded in my beloved 2006 Aveo LT for this one. Needless to say I feel like I've made a big step up. I always thought that if the Aveo had about 40 more horsepower it would have been a really fun car to drive and the Sonic has that and it is fun to drive.
