I don't know if it will help you or not but when I launch my 1.8 I shift in to 2nd at 4500-4700rpm the only gear I run out is 3rd. I have found that red line is not always the best

I think you are right.

Foxbox's best run showed a tenth faster than mine in the 1/8th mile.

I'm winding the piss out of 3rd when I crash the gates. Next time I go I'm gonna experiment with shorter shifts and maybe some 4th gear.

Still waiting for my red pill tune. With that and the rigid clutch and flywheel, I'm setting my sights on Stratton again.

I would so some test runs to see way what rpm you can do a smooth gear change then dial it in. Like with my car i I shift at 5k it jerks witch means loose of momentum but at 45 it's a nice fluid change

I do not, but my 60' should improve a lot. It launches much more like a normal car now.

If the track was closer, I'd go before the new tune, but the amount of effort it takes me to make a trip, prohibits me from going often.

I think the added power will require me to row through 4 gears to stay in the peak power range between 3,500-5,000.

With the added power and lighter drivetrain, would 2nd gear launches be possible? Less shifts are better.

I've tried launching in second. Gutless. It will be slightly better with the MZ0. But the whole idea with the MZ0 is that it will promote being in the peak power through 4 gears.

Hmmm, looks like rowing to 4th is unavoidable. I bet you will be messing with gears in a year and tire size to optimize the ratios.

Also I edited my post above. The MZ0's shorter second may help the idea of launching in 2nd, but not by much. It's 0.11 shorter than MZ4.

I see the theory but do not see the gain. Not a significant enough difference to benefit from a 2nd gear launch.
A little off topic...I was thinking what kind of difference would two octane points make power wise? I.e. 91 v 93. Foxbox dynoed 162/216 on 93 octane with tune, catback, and intake.

The extra timing advance capable with the 93 is probably the most cost effective way to gain some extra powers.

Foxbox proved that my expensive mods weren't very effective. But damn do I look good going slowly down the track.
