The only input I can give on catch-cans is to make sure it has some kind of baffle on the inside that force the gasses to take a long route to the outlet. This will give vapors a chance to condense out before exiting.

A lot of the cheap ones are just empty canisters with the inlet and outlet holes right next to each other.

Im still curious as where this blow by oily resedue goes once its sucked into the TB ?

It along with any unburned fuel goes into the cylinders where it's incinerated during combustion minus whatever clings to any surfaces along the way. The main purpose of the PCV system is to lower emissions. Previously these gasses and vapours were just vented out a tube under the car out of sight and out of mind.

I am late to this thread but if anybody is still looking or interested you might check this out: https://turbobygarrett.com/turbobygarrett/oil_leakage I was using oil to the tune of 1/2 qt every week or 1k miles. I read this article about the most common problem with turbo seal leaks. Most of my oil was going into the intercooler charge tubes and then leaking onto my driveway and leaving little messes everywhere. I replaced the turbo but it did not help. I have replaced the valve cover twice - no help. Replaced the two camshaft actuators and seals - no help. I finally bit the bullet at 273,000 miles and replaced the intake manifold. While I had it off I also did the bypass the bypass ( I think I did it right). I also installed the K&N Typhoon air filter system. Let me say my intake was totally plugged up with gunk in the PCV breather tubing where the orange valve is or is suppose to be. All I could see is gunk! Since I completed the 3 repairs / upgrades I have not used a drop of oil and no more messes in the driveway or garage. On the downside I am getting P0299 codes occasionally now. I just clear it out with my Ultragauge and keep on going. It is too darn cold here right now. I guess I am saying do not forget to check hour air filter and duct. Maybe my biggest help was with the K&N - I just do not know.

I guess someday I'll have to take a look in my charge tube to see if I have any oils in there... 43k on my 14 and still pretty much all stock, as soon as the weather gets a lil better I'll get my bov and down pipe back on[emoji41]

Actually wondering if there is a way to completely redesign the whole PCV system with the inclusion of the valve cover check valve. The way I see it now, the way it was designed is pretty poor at what it does from a reliability view of things. I know one person on this forum is trying to bypass the intake manifold side of things to try and rid of the internal check valve that is in there, but that doesn't fix the valve cover check valve issue which is the most common problem.

2012 1.4T, I'm at 145K miles all stock and it's at the dealer getting it's second valve cover replaced. For me they seem to have a 70K mile lifetime and then the CEL comes on.

Is this what's being resolved with the "bypass the bypass" fix?

No, the "bypass the bypass" is not a fix, it is a cheap mod to reduce the ECM's ability to use the bypass solenoid to regular boost.

You should look at the orange check valve in your intake manifold, if it's gone, you'll keep blowing valve covers.

True and you will also probably be blowing white smoke out the exhaust.
