The "QuickBooks cannot communicate with the company file" issue usually occurs due to network connectivity problems, incorrect hosting settings, or firewall restrictions. Here’s how to fix it:
- Run QuickBooks Database Server Manager
- Open the QuickBooks Tool Hub and go to Network Issues.
- Run QuickBooks Database Server Manager and scan the company file folder.
- Restart QuickBooks and check if the issue is resolved.
- Verify Hosting Settings
- Open QuickBooks on the server computer.
- Click File > Utilities and ensure Host Multi-User Access is enabled.
- If you see Stop Hosting Multi-User Access, it means hosting is already enabled.
- Check Firewall and Antivirus Settings
- Ensure QuickBooks files (QBDBMgrN.exe, QBW32.exe) have exceptions in your firewall.
- Temporarily disable your antivirus and check if QuickBooks connects.
- Ensure QuickBooks Services are Running
- Press Windows + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.
- Find QuickBooksDBXX (where XX is your QuickBooks version) and QBCFMonitorService.
- Right-click each service, select Restart, and set Startup Type to Automatic.
