1.8L Chevy Sonic Turbo Kit

I was searching for a turbo kit for the 1.8 sonic but could not find a traditional kit. I got in contact with STS turbo and found out that they have a bolt on kit for it. The kit starts at $2400 and comes with a 5psi boost spring that is up-gradable and adjustable. The kit will produce around 300 crank hp at 5psi. Turbo takes the place of the stock muffler. There are still things that you would need to get on your own with this basic kit like a tune, injectors, bigger fuel pump most likely, ect. Joe Loftus is the person I talked to at STS Turbo.

And to think, the 1.4L turbo engine is only a $800 option over the 1.8L.

My guess is that it is a universal kit that you have to make work. I also find it hard to believe that 5 PSI would more than double the crank HP of the 1.8L. Even if they did manage 300 CHP at 5 PSI I highly doubt the engine will survive for long. It is built as an economy engine, and the internals are designed accordingly.

I have seen those rear mount turbo kits before, read a review many years ago. They actually worked pretty well for being so far away from the engine, lag wasn't any worse than some other turbo cars out there.

I can see plumbing being more of a pain having to run charge piping so far, and oil lines, but any custom turbo type setup is going to have it's pluses and minuses. There's a lot of 1.8 guys who would be watching if you go ahead with it.

It would almost be worth waiting for the engine to go then replace it with a 2.0 turbo motor with low miles.

300 hp on the stock motor will die on the first start.

i probebly fly a piston on the first drive..

and thats before the gearbox.
