1.8L P0496 & P0171 - - - Purge Valve or?

I got the P0496 code last week, ordered ACDelco p/n 214-2317 on Amazon for ~$22 (it's a different p/n on the 1.4L engine btw), and installed it today. It definitely was broken. On the brand new one I could not blow through it.
On the old one I could blow through it somewhat, it was partially stuck open. Then I put 12V on the terminals and heard it click, and I could still partially blow through it.
Now I will clear the code and assume the problem is solved. Cheap fix.
I have 63825 miles on mine.

Yes . . it is a different part number. . but this is a thread for the 1.8l engine forum. . The 1.4L engine forum threads reference the part number for that engine.

I had the same problem, broke the blue clip but never dug out the rest. I got that connector off with a flat head screwdriver from the other end of it.

Where did you get the valve? I've tried 2 now and the one "barb" (on side with electric connector) is too short.

The ridge is closer to the canister and doesn't allow the thing to click/latch on

I had the very same issue. The parts available at 3 local parts store all had the ridge too close to the canister.

I'm hoping it is the correct fit. I can let you know if you haven't found a replacement..

I just bought it from the dealer, $50 and it was the correct part unlike the $20 amazon and $50 napa

We bought the AC Delco off of Amazon a couple of years ago. It installed fine. It was about $28 then.
Plus, Amazon. . free returns at Kohl's stores.
