2012 Chevy Sonic battery issue

Hi all,
I am hoping for some advice. We have been having an issue lately where the battery light comes on and then goes off while we are driving. Today the battery light stayed on and the car broke down. The radio shut off and on and cruise control all went out before this happened. We took the battery to autozone and found out the battery only had a 2% charge and it was the original battery...ekes! So we replaced the battery and Guinevere, that’s my car, started right up! JOY! However, sadly, the battery light came back on and the car is running rough...Any ideas? Alternator belt is looking fine....Help please? Scared at what this is and the cost as the battery was $180.00...

Apparently the charging system isn't functioning. If you have a digital or analog handheld voltmeter you can quickly determine if the alternator is charging the battery. I have a digital battery monitor on my console that is wired into the electrical system so I can monitor the charging rate constantly.

I would suspect the alternator isn't charging; possibly the alternator itself or the BCM module isn't allowing the system to charge the battery. Bad electrical connections and grounds are also a possible cause.

I would consider Wal-Mart for your next replacement battery. Much cheaper.
