Hello, I just joined this website today so my apologies if I am not posting in the right section. I recently picked up a used 2014 Chevy Sonic LTZ with only 20,000 miles. So far I love it, it is loaded with options. One of those options is the touch screen radio (is there a certain name for it?), lately I have had a few problems with it. On the test drive, everything worked great, but go figure you get home and something isn't right. Enough of my rambling, here are my issues:
1: When hitting the "seek" button to change stations, it changes stations like it should but the display still shows the station you were on. For example, if I have 104.1 on, and I change it to another station, it still displays 104.1. Then, I am lost and am not sure what station I am actually on because the 104.1 is stuck on the screen.
2: Sometimes when I turn the radio on, it turns on a completely different station that I don't listen to. For example, say I always have 101.5 on and don't change it, some morning Ill get in the car and when I turn the radio on it will be on 107.3 or just something completely random.
3: When maneuvering around the touch screen, pressing on the screen to make a selection, I have to use my fingernail. The screen does not respond to just my finger, it is like I HAVE to use my fingernail no exceptions. I have found that a stylus from a tablet of mine works too, but it is annoying to pick up the stylus just to change something on the screen every time.
I have tried to not let it bug me, but since I am on the road a lot, it has really just finally got to me and I can't stand it. I love everything about the car right now except for the touchscreen radio (which I thought I would love). Am I just not doing something right? Is there some way to reset everything to make it all work? I bought an extended warranty (I thought it would be good to have since I am on the road a lot) in addition to the factory warranty that was still on it. I thought I remember seeing somewhere on my warranty that this whole touchscreen radio thing is covered if something happens to it. I'm tempted to take it in and figure out what is wrong with it if I can't find my answer on here. Or maybe like I said, I could just be using it wrong! I have never had a touchscreen radio that came from the factory in my car. Thank you everyone, I will really appreciate your thoughts.
