2014 Sonic LT Hatchback A/C Schrader valve leak

I bought a 2014 Sonic LT Hatchback with 87,000 miles for my daughter 2 months ago. The AC blows cold but there is a weird fluid odor going around corners. I open the good and find neon yellow fluid in the area of the Low Pressure Schrader Valve on the A/C. This fluid literally looks like a highlighter marker exploded under the hood. I’m assuming it’s refrigerant. Is there a way to replace that valve without evacuating the system? Looking for an inexpensive fix.

My 13 has a leak in the same spot. It's very slow so it needs a boost every couple months.

You could maybe try to use a Schraeder valve tool to see if the valve core is a bit loose. I'd wear some good gloves, because you will lose freon in the process.

Its probably best to call around town and see if someplace can fix it right. You might get a deal off-season. My local Midas shop does good AC work for a third to half of what the dealer would charge.
