2015 1.4 bad head gasket?

Hey guys. I have some issues. Yes I searched the forum first.
Engine has 22k. The car is misfiring, no coolant in reservoir, and coolant in oil...

Before I pull this head off what else should I look at to see if coolant is mixing with oil. Oil cooler? Intake manifold? I'm not familiar with these engines at all.

Oil cooler is a very strong possibility, that's been a more common problem than blowing a head gasket

I have a 2015 too, you probably have more time on the Powertrain Warranty which lasts 5yrs/100K miles (the mileage is lower on newer Sonics). So I think free repair at dealer is a possibility. Unless this sort of repair isn't covered?? You'd think oil/coolant issues would be covered.

In my case, I bought the Sonic in Feb 2015 so I've got about six more months on the warranty.

Ok thanks guys. I guess I'll remove the oil cooler first and check the gaskets.

I don't know if the warranty would still be valid since this car has a salvage title now. I just purchased it from an auction.

I'm curious what they say about the Salvage title. It might void the warranty. But let us know, please, good to know either way.

yeah like i thought, salvage title voids all factory warranties.

I was thinking. If this car is misfiring then coolant must be getting into the combustion chamber, so the oil cooler wouldn't be a possibility?

Put on my cooling system pressure tester and the two center cylinders and filling with coolant ... Heads coming off very soon.

Not worth taking the head out. Buy a junkyard pulled engine. They're everywhere. Drop that sucker in. A lot less work to get the engine in and out than it is to do the head and everything associated with it.
