2016 Buick Cascada First Look - Motor Trend

Has anyone ever heard of anyone trying to swap the 1.6T (Opel) engine into our cars yet?

I've never even heard the Cascada, but it looks like it shares some similarities with the Cruze/Sonic.

The new Cruze get's 1.5T I believe. That's the engine in the new Malibu... The 1.6T may be a European derivative and not available in anything else.

The Cascada is pretty much just a convertible version of the Opel Astra which is available with an awesome engine.

I wish GM would bring that awesome engine over to the Sonic and give the Fiesta ST a run for it's money. They're over there about to release the Focus RS and the only thing the 2nd gen Sonic gets is poor styling.

I fully believe the cascada was only the start for this little engine... GM has been on record of saying that this engine will be used in other models...

The Opel Corsa GTC is the Fiesta ST fighter in Europe...

Would certainly be nice to stuff the motor into a Sonic, but you can buy a 2.0l turbo 260hp EJ series crate motor, now that could be really fun!

They really should make a Sonic SS, just with the 1.6T engine, bigger brakes in the front, stiffer suspension, and recaros or something, it'd be fantastic.

Looking at the Cascada's engine bay closely, the engines look very similar in terms of placement/orientation, it would probably be a very simple swap.
