5W30 Diesel oil in 1.4L

My buddy sent me a link yesterday from Cruztalk.com an someone claims that the diesel oil is better for the motor an turbo then the gas oil an he is in the process of proving it. Have any of you guys heard of this or be willing to try it with your own Sonic?


So i put diesel oil in my 1.4T the other day...

I run diesel oil in all of my gas engines (well90% of them) diesel spec oil has more detergent in it to clean soot out of the engine. As long as its also dexton1 spec it will be good for then engine

It sounds like it's a good idea from every thing I read except for the downside of a possibility of voiding warranty or premature catalytic converter failure (especially when I'm looking into a free flow cat-back exhaust) but I'm nearing a 1000miles on the car so I'm going to change the oil an probably going to go with the diesel oil!

It would have nothing to do with our cat. Go with shell rotella t6 (there synthic kind) Mobil makes a good one also royal purple is a good way to go. I run rotella in my generators (I make my own power I have a generator that runs at least 6hours a day every day and I've never had a oil related failer)

I'll probably ether go with the T6 or delo 400 since I use it in my own diesel truck an never had a problem an I usually change it when ever the change oil light comes on (around 6-7000miles) an looks pretty good. An on that forum I posted they say that something in the oil would hurt the catalytic converter when some burns

I've run Rotella in my MX bikes for years. Mainly for the added ZDDP in a shim under bucket valve-train. I think I'll stick with Mobil 1 EP or Royal Purple in my Sonic.

Yea an fuel injection pump within the first year I got it. Wasn't too happy about that

Yea the guy I got it from said he just changed them when I bought it but seem that wasn't true but it was expected after hitting 170,000 with the stock injectors

No I got brand new stock ones. I was thinking about getting after market but the guy that did it gave me warranty so I whent with that
