6th gen Camaro 2.0t best tuner car buy

I was talking with a friend who is huge camaro fan. He raves about the v6 and the v8. He gives me rides now and then and granted they're amazing cars. There's not a lot of respect on the camaro forums for the 2.0t.

Thing is, with 2,000$ - ZZP turbo upgrade, bolt ons, exhaust, the 4 cyl camaro could have 400 hp or so on the motor, with a power to weight ratio of 8.3. Thats serious, I mean thats really good, the v8's power to weight is 8.1. The v6 is 10.9. A stage 3 COBB ecoboost Mustang is 9.0. A Challenger SRT 392 is 8.4.

Consider the v6 would need a 5-6k$ supercharger kit to have better numbers. A 1LE suspension kit is 1,500$, rear gear swaps + diffs, and tons of lightweight parts can drop 100lbs+ off the car.

In 5 years when the prices drop this is the Camaro to buy, there will be excellent examples where people just drove them easy cuz they wanted a camaro for the looks. Am I missing something here, why no love for the 2.0t Camaro? In your opinion, what other cars offer the best bang for the buck?

Nailed it, the 4cyl Camaro is s great car. Americans are dumb. Not much else available at it's price point with the same potential

I have to agree skis, As I looked into it more, I was blown away by the lack of interest for the 2.0 camaro. ATS's are putting down 500-600hp, ZZP is planning a 1000hp ATS. I wonder how much $ people spend on the SS for the same power levels.

Well you have those twin turbo 3.6's that are nice in the Caddilacs and they depreciate like rocks. Also why bother buying a Camaro with a 2.0 when the Mustang is a 2.3? Or the Kia Stinger which is already as fast as a Mustang GT and prices in at only 5k more than the 2.0 Camaro. Hell, a VW GTI with a 2.0T can really put down the power as well. Or buy any used A4 with a 2.0T Quattro. Audi's with the V6 supercharged engine are falling in price as well, and they are extremely stout and reliable motors. BMW 335 anyone? Single turbo builds are 500hp+ with bolt ons, plus you can get them with M-Sport suspension packages.

The Kia Stinger, Cadillac CTS, Audi A4 quattros or v6's, are either close to or above 4,000 lb cars. Camaro 2.0t is a 3,300 lb car.

Im not saying any of the cars you mentioned skurtov can't make 500-600+ hp with the right build. What I'm saying is for initial startup cost, cost per dollar of bolt on and little or no dyno time, and power:weight, nothing comes close. Well the Golf GTI, I'll give you that. How hard will it be to find a maturely driven GTI vs base Camaro in a few years? The VW will hold value where the base Camaro will drop. As much a fan I am of the Golf R, I seriously doubt the GTI handling and chassis can compare to the new Camaro. The VW is very good, but not 6th gen 1LE or ZL1 good. I may be biased to Chebbies but the new 6th gens are that good. Ive driven both new Mustang and new Camaro.

The ecoboosts are not reliable for high hp builds, check the Mustang/F150 forums and then stop over at the ATS forums as a comparison.
