If QuickBooks Desktop crashes upon opening, it may be due to a corrupted company file, damaged installation, or system conflicts. Follow these steps to resolve the issue:
If the problem persists, reinstall QuickBooks using Clean Install Tool or contact QuickBooks support for further assistance.
1. Run Quick Fix My Program:
- Download and install QuickBooks Tool Hub from Intuit’s website.
- Open Tool Hub and navigate to Program Problems.
- Select Quick Fix My Program and allow it to repair QuickBooks.
- Restart QuickBooks and check if it opens correctly.
2. Rename the QBWUSER.INI File:
- Go to C:\Users[Your Username]\AppData\Local\Intuit\QuickBooks [Year].
- Find QBWUSER.INI and rename it to QBWUSER.INI.OLD.
- Try opening QuickBooks; if it works, you may need to reconfigure your preferences.
3. Suppress QuickBooks While Opening:
- Hold Ctrl while double-clicking the QuickBooks icon.
- Keep holding Ctrl until QuickBooks opens.
- If successful, your company file may be corrupt. Try opening a different file.
