AC cooling shuts off when sudden acceleration

so i was on a stoplight, my friend on the other lane with his new hyundai accent, with the looks on our eyes we decided to drag until the next intersection. green and go, i stepped on it (rev about 4k+)then my friend eats my dust.

upon arriving at the next traffic light, i felt that the AC is not cooling anymore. there is air but hot air coming out (40deg c outside btw). i slowed down then it blows cold air again. this happened again on a u-turn, accelerate and the same thing. looks like the compressor of the AC is auto off when the car is accelerating more. do the sonic have this feature? or is that a defect?

i used to turn off the AC on my dad's van when climbing uphill so that the engine will not have difficult time pulling the load. first i think that the sonic has that feature or is it really a problem with my AC?

All Ac compressors turn off when high rpm's are achieved. It gives the vehicle more HP. no need to worry at this time. if the AC stopped blowing all together then you have a problem.

Its a feature, the a/c compressor puts a lot of drag on the engine, it determines that you going WOT is you asking for more power, so it cuts off the a/c until you start driving normally again. Every car I've driven made past the mid-90s has had it.
