Hello everyone,
I have a 2013 Soinc LT with the 1.8. Last year the AC would intermittently not work. This spring it will not work at all.
I removed the relay for the AC clutch and swapped it with the High beam but that did not help. So I know the relay is good.
If I jumper pins 30 and 87 on the relay, the AC clutch will engage. When I do this the ac blows cold. The system will continue to run and the air is ice cold in the vents. I also checked the pressure on the system and it is good so I know the AC system is full and operational, the problem is related to the signal to engage the system. This signal goes to pin 85 on the AC clutch relay.
I put a volt meter on pin 85 of the relay. This is the signal from the dash switch. It will fluctuate between 0V and 3.2V as I press the switch. I would expect to see 12V to trigger the relay but I am not sure.
Do any of you know what the proper voltage is to trigger this relay? Do any of you have a schematic of the AC circuit you could share? I believe I have isolated the issue to the control module / button in the dash. I'd like to confirm the voltage before ordering a part. I am not sure if there is a limit switch, WOT switch or some other electrical circuit that may cause the problem I am seeing.
If any of you have tested this before and know what the voltage at pin 85 should be I'd love to know. If I had access to another Sonic I would test it.
