I don't believe there's any process to program/register battery type on this car, so no, you wouldn't have to do anything with a scan tool if you install an AGM battery. That said, the car's charging system may not be ideal for AGM batteries and you might not get the longest possible life from one.
For comparison's sake, I know recent Volkswagen vehicles can be programmed with battery type, such as AGM ("fleece") vs. flooded lead-acid. The car uses different charging voltages and patterns for different battery types, and even changes charging behavior as the battery ages to maximize battery life.
